What's new

Pakistan is on upward trajectory of progress & development

It only appears as a high taxation

Sales tax is paid by consumer , it is temporarily in possession of a small business owner who has a duty to submit the collected tax from customer to Government

The #1 issue in Pakistan is the small business owner will collect the sales tax but will not send it 100% to Government and try to eat the tax up for himself

Small Business Sales Tax collection can be made efficient

a) Mandatory Bank Account Ownership for Small Business
b) ATM Card machine use by Small Business , so all transactions are tracked
c) Small business owner using a software to track sales / sales tax seperately
d) Remitting Sales Tax regularly every 30 days to Government of Pakistan

Alot of these Private Business owners specially Restaurant Owners Process 100-200 Lambs or cows on regular weekly basis so you can judge the Sales tax potential

I saw a video of busy restaurant in Pakistan , making Kabab after kabab 50-70 skewers at time !!!!

No body knows in Pakistan if these groups are taxed by FBR or any process

a) Restaurant Owners who do all work in Paper money and don't file correct amounts
b) Grocery shops who collect paper cash and do not file sales tax
c) Small Sabzi bazar business owners who are undocumented and don't file taxes
d) Transportation companies which transport customers they need to correctly report taxes
e) Barber shops , Mechanic Shops , Tailors who make clothes they all operate on paper money
f) Boutique shops , small shops selling clothes
g) Book sellers , Electronics sellers , Appliance sellers
h) Bus Drivers
i) Taxi Drivers / Rickshaw drivers
J) Meat Sellers
L) Dairy Milk Sellers

I am not saying it will be easy but it is needed in order to get Pakistan off the Loan Addiction

:pop: Every country in world have a taxation system

  • Income Tax
  • Corporate Tax (For those who own business and hire people)
  • Sales Tax (Applied to all people)
  • Property Tax (If you own a home or Farming Land Tax)

Government need contribution from all , in order to build projects like schools, hospitals, parks , and build infrastructure (roads , bridges , bus & railway systems)

Example: Typical Middle class guy making 42,000 Pakistani Rupee per month salary

Income Tax Due: 10% ~ 4,200 Rupees withhold at bank [You have to file]

Corporate Tax Due : 0 (Does not own business)

Sales Tax : (15%)
In month buys
Groceries : 7,000 Rupees ~ Sales tax (1050 Rupees)
Utilities : 2,000 Rupees ~ Sales tax (200 Rupees)

In this example government collected Tax of 5450 from 1 person

Money Remaining in Pocket 36,550 Rupees did not died
  • May be pays rent for home
  • May be pays fuel for motor bike , better take a bus once bus service starts
Certainly I agree. But what i disagree with the outcome. I don't see the utilization of that capital for the benefit of the people.

.
Dude,
When tax collection gets to 75% then we can talk prosperity
Pakistan should focus on tax collection , otherwise feel good statements are just that feel good

Economy needs Tax payers , Tax collection and Projects which use that Collected funds

Dude, there is almost 10,000PKR + tax on any international flight taken to and from Pakistan. There is tax on food you sit an eat somewhere, there is tax on all consumables and services you could purchase.
There is tax on roads and what not.
What more tax do they need from people?

PAKISTAN is celebrating the 79th anniversary of Pakistan Resolution adopted on March 23, 1940. This resolution laid down the foundation for creation of Pakistan. Through this resolution, the dynamic and visionary leaders of Pakistan movement gave hope to the Muslims of the subcontinent of a separate homeland — a land where they would be free to practice their religion, express their views, get justice and lead a life as per their wishes.

Today, by the grace of Allah, Pakistan is making steady progress in all spheres of life. Our country has been through many challenges over the past 70 years, but with strong support and resilience of our people, Pakistan has been put on the upward and irreversible trajectory of progress and development.

The Pakistani community in the Kingdom has played valuable role in development of Kingdom as well as Pakistan. They feel proud to be part of development in the Kingdom, a place which is close to their hearts and which houses the two holiest places of Muslims in the world.

Our relations with Saudi Arabia are moving towards new horizons. Recently we have seen a number of high level bilateral visits which have further cemented the bonds of friendship. We are thankful to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for taking the relations between the two brotherly countries to higher levels.

On the celebration of this historic day, I would reiterate the commitment of the government and the people of Pakistan, to the development and prosperity of our two countries and for further deepening of the relations. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have always stood by each other in difficult times and will continue to stay together in the years to come.

Long live Pakistan; long live Pak-Saudi Friendship.
Raja Ali Ejaz
Ambassador of Pakistan

Pakistan can never attain a concrete success until we are establishing everything in our own language, from law to science.
For example, China and India.
China established everything in her own language. Translated everything in Chinese. Got success in trade, and now they are representing a new civilisation.
India on the other hand just adopted. Besides the presence of one of the world largest scientists' pool, does India has the same standing in innovation market(I am not talking about NRIs) ? Or do they represent a new civilization, or they are just trying to be more and more western?

And for Pakistan, our ancestors learned Persian to get job. We learned English to get job, and our children will learn Chinese to get job. We always did things just to pass the exam.

We will rise the day, when we will translate knowledge into Urdu, and that knowledge is taught in our Universities. Because we can never be innovative in other people's language.

Until then, we are just sheep, and dependent on shepherd. We Pakistanis need a total revolution right from food to linguistics.

I can give details of that, if someone asks.

There must be some truth to what you are saying.. i can refer to the Arab civilisation getting to its Apex through translation of older civilisations' book and the transfer of knowledge plus _and not the least_ innovation in all fields..so maybe the language plays that big a role in advancing a country and creating a civilisation..

My thoughts on whats needed:
  • Human Resource Development - technology will help with this, a modern tablet costing $100 can contain books and lectures for a kindergarten to PHD level education.
  • Technology Assimilation - Reverse engineer and replicate has much tech from abroad as possible. This will help our local industry and defense.
  • Security - We live in a dangerous neighborhood with bad neighbor's. We need to secure the borders and aggressively hunt any foreign intelligent agents and their lackeys that threaten us.
  • Modern finance - Pakistani financial industry needs to step its game and invest in our domestic growth...we need figure out public - private funding mechanism to fund Bhasha Dam and replicate it for future infrastructure development projects
  • Cheap Abundant Energy - if we fully exploit or dams, Thar coal, Shale gas/oil, Offshore Oil and Gas, solar and biomass energy resources, we can easily have a per capita energy production close to first world nations. Easily enough to have one of the largest industrial bases in the world.

If we want to build Pakistan the way we want, we must do it in urdu. Otherwise, we will build it the IMF wants.

Literacy is important but Language is becoming irrelevant....Google translate. Only a matter of time before star trek style translaters are made.

Of course it should be urdu its a beautiful language and still young
If we develop it properly it can become more than a national language it can even become a tool that can connect communities of persian language and derivatives to languages of west

Tell me what snow, ice and glaciers are called in urdu. you will see how underdeveloped urdu is

Snow = Berf kay galy
Ice = Berf
Glacier = Berg ka toda.
Urdu, in some areas, is more developed than English.
Tell me the particular words for
Khala, Tai, Phophi, and Chachi in English. :-)
