PAKISTAN is celebrating the 79th anniversary of Pakistan Resolution adopted on March 23, 1940. This resolution laid down the foundation for creation of Pakistan. Through this resolution, the dynamic and visionary leaders of Pakistan movement gave hope to the Muslims of the subcontinent of a separate homeland — a land where they would be free to practice their religion, express their views, get justice and lead a life as per their wishes.

Today, by the grace of Allah, Pakistan is making steady progress in all spheres of life. Our country has been through many challenges over the past 70 years, but with strong support and resilience of our people, Pakistan has been put on the upward and irreversible trajectory of progress and development.

The Pakistani community in the Kingdom has played valuable role in development of Kingdom as well as Pakistan. They feel proud to be part of development in the Kingdom, a place which is close to their hearts and which houses the two holiest places of Muslims in the world.

Our relations with Saudi Arabia are moving towards new horizons. Recently we have seen a number of high level bilateral visits which have further cemented the bonds of friendship. We are thankful to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and the Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman for taking the relations between the two brotherly countries to higher levels.

On the celebration of this historic day, I would reiterate the commitment of the government and the people of Pakistan, to the development and prosperity of our two countries and for further deepening of the relations. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have always stood by each other in difficult times and will continue to stay together in the years to come.

Long live Pakistan; long live Pak-Saudi Friendship.
Raja Ali Ejaz
Ambassador of Pakistan

Every individual in Pakistan pays taxes. It is wrong to say that people are not paying taxes. Even my 9 years old is paying tax when he buys chips, or a drink. But where does our taxes go that is the question that need to be answered. We do not need any tax number from FBR, our national ID is more than enough. But make the hotel and other business accountable to give us proper receipt against our national ID. Then we will know that every body pitch in.

.
Yes it is our duty to educate youth to pay taxes and also question where collected money goes
It should go to Federal Government Account Directly without any stoppage

Pakistan has good future. We have hope from this new generation. Everybody should take part for progress of Pakistan. Always keep Pakistan interest first than religion or anything. We faced extremism & terrorism, after we fought them bravely , our way towards progress is getting clear. Pakistan is blessed will beautiful places, reserviors , all weathers , world largest mountains, and what not? Our future is bright .

When tax collection gets to 75% then we can talk prosperity
Pakistan should focus on tax collection , otherwise feel good statements are just that feel good

Economy needs Tax payers , Tax collection and Projects which use that Collected funds

It will destroy Pakistan's economy. Businesses/industries would be finished.

Exactly. But who can make these keyboard economists understand that. Recently, government increased gas bills by atleast 5 times. And then still they are saying there is no tax collection. If government keeps on increasing indirect taxes, then nobody will pay a penny for direct (income) taxes.

:pop: Every country in world have a taxation system

  • Income Tax
  • Corporate Tax (For those who own business and hire people)
  • Sales Tax (Applied to all people)
  • Property Tax (If you own a home or Farming Land Tax)

Government need contribution from all , in order to build projects like schools, hospitals, parks , and build infrastructure (roads , bridges , bus & railway systems)

Example: Typical Middle class guy making 42,000 Pakistani Rupee per month salary

Income Tax Due: 10% ~ 4,200 Rupees withhold at bank [You have to file]

Corporate Tax Due : 0 (Does not own business)

Sales Tax : (15%)
In month buys
Groceries : 7,000 Rupees ~ Sales tax (1050 Rupees)
Utilities : 2,000 Rupees ~ Sales tax (200 Rupees)

In this example government collected Tax of 5450 from 1 person

Money Remaining in Pocket 36,550 Rupees did not died
  • May be pays rent for home
  • May be pays fuel for motor bike , better take a bus once bus service starts

Government should decide whether it wants to take indirect taxes or it wants to take direct taxes. It can never and will never take both. Mark my words!!!:coffee::coffee:

I am of strong opinion to Abolish Income Tax 10% in Pakistan and introduce a integrated Sales tax 35%

Example: Typical Middle class guy making 42,000 Pakistani Rupee per month salary

Income Tax Due: 0 [No Need to File any Forms]

Corporate Tax Due : 0 (Does not own business)

Sales Tax : (35%)
In month buys
Groceries : 7,000 Rupees ~ Sales tax (2450 Rupees)
Utilities : 2,000 Rupees ~ Sales tax (700 Rupees)

Toll Card for Roadso_O
Person has to buy a 1000 Rupee /Month Road Usage Toll Card, if owns car, bike, pickup or bus

Mobile Card Refill Tax o_O
Person has to buy a 500 Rupee Tax while refilling Mobile phone

In this example government collected Tax of 3,150+1000+500 = 4650 from 1 person

**Money Remaining in Pocket 37,350 Rupees did not died

  • May be pays rent for home (0 rupee if lives in parents home or grand parents)
  • May be pays fuel for motor bike , better take a bus once bus service start

But before sales tax can be used as prime source of taxation , large population would have to start using ATM cards issued by banks to make payments

So merchants (Sellers) when they sell , and collect tax this tax collected is reported and sent directly to account which can be audited and sellers can correctly deposit Collected taxes to Government of Pakistan

Big players like Utilities , Mobile Companies, Fuel companies, Cable, Water, Construction companies, Large Factories , Large Super Markets, Franchises (Foreign) have to be 100% accurate as fines and penalties are high but for small business owners they will have to be in compliance i.e They don' t lie about sales tax

In Pakistan Major groups who remain outside of Tax Net

:coffee: Yep these are the group who need to focused on

They likely don't file Income Taxes
Similarly they won't file Sales Tax collected

This is a fairly Large segment of Pakistani Commerce

a) Restaurant Owners who do all work in Paper money and don't file correct amounts
b) Grocery shops who collect paper cash and do not file sales tax
c) Small Sabzi bazar business owners who are undocumented and don't file taxes
d) Transportation companies which transport customers they need to correctly report taxes
e) Barber shops , Mechanic Shops , Tailors who make clothes they all operate on paper money
f) Boutique shops , small shops selling clothes
g) Book sellers , Electronics sellers , Appliance sellers
h) Bus Drivers
i) Taxi Drivers / Rickshaw drivers
J) Meat Sellers
L) Dairy Milk Sellers

Genius!!!! If only the government could be as intelligent in its thinking. :disagree::disagree:
If government does that what you are suggesting, well then I would say there would be a civil war in Pakistan.

we don't have to copy the "world"
We can invest our own , and phase it out progressively .
People are living to.pay taxes in Europe , specially in Denmark , which is the "most happy" country but people say that they are taxed to death there . It's annoying and ridiculous .
If we just actaally pay what we owe right now , only that would suffice .We don't need any we system .
