Pakistan is buying Type-022 Houbei stealth catamaran missile boats

Yes talks are going on and if you are falling for Russian embassy statement than you are way to innocent. So and ignorants often you laughing thing.

Why don't you quote me a link from Russian side about these so called talks??? Don't be a Ignorant and fall for the false mistaken report k...

With increased EEZ to 350 miles, the PN has to project power across a huge area, PLUS, it has to protect thousands of ships coming and leaving Karachi and Gawader with stuff for Pakistan, China, Russia and some central Russian states.

In fact, the range of Paistan's EEZ now ends very close to Dawarka (a major IN station) and then Bombay little bit further down. So having ships on rotation 100-150 miles within Dawarka (and much closer to Bombay then ever before), will keep a serious check on IN's naval station and on the Bombay port.

On the other side, the Pakistani EEZ now gets very close to Muscat and Gulf of Oman, and on the other side, to the Strait of Homez. The PN can actually block any ships bound to India from that side too, if she had the number of advance and heavy vessels and an air arm of dedicated 80-100 jets (combination of 4th gen+ and the JFT block II and III's).

Next thing the PN should do, is to build a naval station in Jivani, which is a port within like 20+ miles from Iran. Having a secured naval station there can keep the Chahabar port (within 50 miles), in a serious check from a Pakistan's military and strategic standpoint. The above points are VERY deep and well thought through. You'd have to think about the implications to understand what I just wrote.

I hope some PN senior officers read this. I just gave a future strategy for the PN!!!

You don't really have the fleet strength to shut down anything in all these diverse areas simutaneously.Your talking about defeating destroyers with missile boats,if this strategy was so effective china would only be building thousands of missile boats and submarines instead of destroyers and cruisers. If any PN ships move out of air cover they are near defenceless, thats why i said u need modern air defence ship.80-100 maritime attack aircraft sounds like farfetched,in the last 10 yrs pakistan has inducted what 50-70 jf-17s for its whole air force, let alone maritime aviation.
Besides bombay is no longer main fleet base, its karwar way down south that houses the main western fleet-both carriers and most heavy ships and submarines in hardened underground pens. Not in the open like bombay.

Your points are well thought out,but it takes into account assets that don't exist. And for them to exist PA will have to sacrifice a hefty part of its budget share to PN.

PAF only plans to induct 150 JF-17s; 50 from each block. Also, there are F-16s coming from US side and may be more from Egypt and Jordan soon. Also J-31 will be inducted from 2020.

For long range we should look for J-11 C or develop it with China with powerful AESA radar with various range of missiles and other equipment we need to to look for a Fighter Jet like that two to three squadrons for Navy it would be massive boost.

J-11D!!!!

Supersonic missiles aren't "unstoppable"!! SM6 would take these out 50-100 miles away from the target (or much further, in the Stratosphere)....whether they are super, sub or space sonic!!

CIWS like Phalanx don't just destroy the missile, the tear up half the missile with special ballistics and the barrage of shells that hits is, has velocity of each shell, which immediately counters the missiles and the missile loses over 70% of its velocity just by getting hit with a few shells. Further more, the warhead explosion puts a stop to any velocity left, and the thing becomes a dud, falling into the ocean. The little peace of shrapnel, if they make it to the ship, don't cause any damage to the hull as their kinetics force has been drained!!
In general, I would agree (for most AShM are relatively small and under well 1000kg) with that but it may work out a bit different with the larger supersonic missiles, many of which (except e.g. Kh-31) are not only larger and significantly heavier: more and larger chunks of debris with more momentum. The Taiwanese HF3 is 1500kg, the Chinese C101 is 1850kg. 3M-54E Club is 2300kg, CX-1, Yakhont and Brahmos are around 3000kg, Moskit is 4500kg.

If you read Physics, when an object is hit with heavy kinetic energy and mini warheads (incoming shells from Phalanx), the speed of the missile slow down immediately and it bleeds energy. If you were running North at 7 miles per hour, and every one foot, someone hit you with a punch, would you sustain the same energy? NO. Similarly, its the case in a missile's situation also.

Now when the Phalanx or other CIWS finally hit the missiles warhead and it explodes, it has its own force getting spread in the air. The remainder of the missile behind the warhead is then stopped due to explosion's own energy being spread in the air and either becomes a dud and falls into the ocean or tears up into shrapnel too. The CIWS hits out to 2 miles or like 4 KM's. So trust me, a 1000 KG warhead should upon direct impact hit an area of like 50 meters or so. 2 KM's away......there may be 1% chances of some shrapnel making it to the hull but without damage. Unless people were standing out watching it, they might get injured.

Do you suppose there is a reason navies are looking into longer range missile interceptions - mostly by missile rather than by gun (Oto 76 excepted) ? I mean longer range KILL rather than longer range DETECTION

Egypt F16s not in good condition we already have vintage jets like Mirage IIIs and F7Ps ( as we may exclude Mirage Vs and F7PGs due to some potency and better air worthiness)

Thats exactly what PLA-N is doing and the thought behind Type-022, 83 built in 7 years only. More smaller ships armed with more missiles to fire unstoppable salvos. Ships like Destroyers, cruisers and carriers are power projectors.

The stealth missile Boats will give a dynamic new angle to Pakistan Navy , at least 10 Ships would be ideal for special stealth operations

Nice concept ideal for small navy like Pakistan would have been nice if this platform had 1-2 SAM launchers as well
carrying 2-4 Missiles

Hi,

The farther out you can kill the enemy---more opportunity you get to destroy more of them---.

The margin of error narrows down when it is a close hit---.

is still type -022 on wish list r going to be inducted soon ?

And the smaller the chances of debris from destroyed missiles still hitting the ship and causing damage.

Hi,

And a part of the debris still flying at mach 3-5 is burning fuel that could cause havoc on anything it hits---.

This is good for asymmetrical war but the numbers required are high. Multiple salvos to overpower defence capabilities of larger ships.

The best combination is with small submarines that can fire torpedoes for the ultimate kill.
