Pakistan has to accept India as big brother

we have never listened to any nation. We have done what has been best for our interests. We did not stick to the Ruskies after the USSR collapsed...we've shifted weight from the east to the west for our interests. That is what we'd continue doing.the whole purpose of living in 'nations' gets diluted when you talk of one nation being considered greater...there is no thin line between a 'nation' and a 'colony'...and we've been both and hated being the latter..not so much the former.

"At the moment India and Pakistan are pretty equivalent on most socio-economic indicators"

May be but their is a whole chasm of difference in real Industrial power ie

GDP $1.2 TRILLION for India Versis $170 billion Pakistan.

Forex India $270 billion versis $9 billion. FOR Pakistan

IMF India nett donar $10 billion 2009 Pakistan nett receipent of IMF Aid $7 billion.

India part of the G20 (20 largest and most important industrial nations on earth)

We buy billions of $ of military toys but we dont have water in Mumbai.Alone $1.2trn dont do anything, distribute this to the billion population also then you will get more poverty and less per capita income than PK.

Not sure about you, but we are currently living in 2009.

This means the 2007, 2008 figures are historical.
2009 and 2010 are estimates.

And I will trust IMF figures over some private company, past or future estimates.

That's why they are called projections. 2009 is not over yet.

In any case, what is your point? We know India's economy is doing better.
I don't think anyone is disputing that.

The point I wanted to make was in response to Mr S90 in post #229...
But he decided to log off after seeing the reply...and you cared to join in...

Well, both India and Pakistan's per-capital GDP is neck-and-neck. According to the hype, you would have thought India's per-capita GDP was twice or three times Pakistan's. It is not. They are more or less equal.

Compare China and India, for instance, and you see a big difference:
Report for Selected Countries and Subjects

GDP Per capita:
2007: India 939.524; China 2560.417
2008: India 1,016.158; China 3315.323
2009: India 981.984; China 3622.129
2010: India 1,007.891; China 3915.395

I live in the same world as you do...and I was always aware that India GDP per capita is almost close to Pakistan....S90 said India should learn from Pakistan to make sure that India's GDP per capita is at least equal to Pakistan...please read his post.....number 229

I am no economist, but in these indices, how do they calculate/take care of the billions of dollars in charity which pakistan receives annually?

At the end of the day, these indices are averages spread over the entire population. We all know what the true story is for the aam junta of both countries.

So dont pay much heed to statistics. Tomorrow someone is gonna tell you the average pakistani is richer than the average Indian ..... say jee hazoor, and move on.

Cheers, Doc

Sorry, I will be more careful next time...:smitten:
