What's new

Pakistan Election Day: 11 May 2013, updates.

Independents have 3 days to decide which party to join & like JI, JUI-F, QWP & ANP - its quite possible that they'd join the Party that forms Government at the Center as happened in the last elections in every single Province.

:))) all of these idiots cant stay at peace with each others. so lets see if they join hands.

You forgot that this time Genuin voters cast votes , the fake votes got eleminated this time. :))) last time many fake votes by thousands were in lists.

To some extent..yet still a lot rigging is observed throughout the time...

ISLAMABAD:
Imran Khan may not have swept the 2013 elections, his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf proved itself to be a force to reckon with by securing a sizeable number of seats for the National Assembly.

Imran’s party secured a convincing win in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the bastion of Awami National Party, in an election that some analysts predicted would have been an easy ride for Nawaz Sharif’s PML-N, according to unofficial results.

However, PTI which enjoyed popularity in urban areas, failed to make inroads into Sindh and Balochistan. In terms of votes, the PTI appeared to be the second largest party after PML-N. The party was running neck and neck with the PPP in the elections.

Imran Khan, who was contesting from four constituencies, comfortably won from Peshawar and Mianwali. He lost from NA-122 to a PML-N candidate by a narrow margin. The results of NA-56 were still being compiled till filing of this report.

Analysts have seen the victory as a refreshing change from the dynastic politicians who long relied on a patronage system to win votes. Besides Imran, his deputy Makhdoom Hashmi won the National Assembly seat from Islamabad. Jahangir Tareen was also leading in NA-154. Similarly Ghulam Sarwar Khan was also leading in NA-53 against PML-N’s Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan till late night. Hamidul Haq also won from NA-2 against a very strong candidate of PPP Arbab Alamgir.

PTI leader Asad Umer said his party fought a political battle against PML-N in the country’s most populous province Punjab. “It’s a great day for Pakistan’s democracy and a great day for PTI which emerged as the second largest national party and the largest party in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa,” he told The Express Tribune.

Dr Shireen Mazari, PTI’s Central Information Secretary, said her party would not form an alliance with any political party. “Despite all the challenges witnessed in the general elections, PTI supporters will remain steadfast in their vision for a ‘Naya Pakistan’,” she added.

Other PTI leaders, including Shafqat Mehmood and Dr Arif Alvi, alleged that the elections were rigged in some constituencies in Lahore and Karachi. Polling staff was not announcing results in three constituencies of Lahore where PTI candidates were leading, Mehmood told journalists. Same complaints were made by Dr Alvi in Karachi against MQM.

Imran Khan had formed PTI in 1996. His party had won only one seat in 200o. Imran resigned from Parliament in 2002 in protest and boycotted the 2008 elections.

I dunno.....I won't be surprised if Karachi isn't the only place in Pakistan were electoral fraud didn't happen - None of us are exactly honest & upright; Lahore ke bareiii mein pataa nahin kiyaa kiyaaa soneiii ko mil rahaa haiii !

The only thing that I can take away from this election is that PPP isn't a major force anymore. PML N might be a bunch of wasteful idiots who've got their priorities all messed up but they do spend some money on the people even if there were a 101 better places to spend it - Kuch na honeiii sei tou achaa hiii haiii - A step above PPP !

And with PTI in the opposition I think they'd keep PML N on the toes to perform better or face severe criticism !

.
What you said is stupid. 187000 votes were cast. There might be votes for other candidates too. And then there might be rejected votes too. If we include all of them the number of votes might go to 190000.

What is the population of this constituency? How many are the eligible voters? What was the turnout? From the looks of the result it looks like each and every voter came to the polling station. This is totally nonsense. It is only MQM which gets exactly round off figures like 180000. How is it even possible. 180000 seriously?

Mard ka bacha atleast apni ghalti accept kerta hai. Baat yeh chal rahi thi ki 170,000 vote kaise pare 10 ghante mei ya yeh ke voter registration kitni thi?? Khair, not many have the decency to accept their ridiculous blindness and absolute stupidity.

. .
They won't join PML(N). Even if they join PML(N) they would have to sit in opposition. PTI is the obvious choice. QWP might join PTI too. Along with JI.

:))) all of these idiots cant stay at peace with each others. so lets see if they join hands.

Never underestimate the power of greed - They joined hands with PPP didn't they ? PML N ki tou phir koi 10-12 seats hain KPK mein.

So 180000 votes look logical to you?

Anyways you post was based on assumption anyways.

Nahi hoga yaar. Even after joining PML(N) they would have to sit in opposition. They would still need support from Maulana diesel and others to be in comfortable position.

Bhadwa saying first priority is to make good relationship with India..BC what about the unemployment, economy & terrorism ? People here are struggling for life. Has Indians voted for you ? Mooh khoelga to badboo hi aayegi. We Punjabis are the biggest CHUTIYAS of all time.

Let's admit that PTI's criticism on just PML-N gave impression to rural areas that it has joined hand with Zardari, they also gave importance to urban areas only. Sindh & Baluchistan ignored totally, to become a true national party and to win with absolute majority so that they can execute their plans they needs to be present on every street and corner of Pakistan. I hope PTI will correct her mistakes and in next election they will bounce back with majority from every province, so that they shouldn't require to shack hand with corrupts to form govt. Maybe this loss is good for PTI in long term.

The difference is that in Punjab whichever party came whether PPP, PML N or PML Q - The development is always there....always because in Punjab people don't foOk around with Aaj bhi Bhutto Zinda hai crap....they demand tangible results on the ground. Even the previous regime though extremely wasteful....spent sh*t loads of money on development work in Punjab....granted that money could have been put to better use....much better use were it invested in our some real problem areas....it was still invested & thats precisely why PML N secured the votes they did !

In contrast the Government's in KPK, Sindh & Baluchistan haven't done sh*t since ever & even after the NFC Award where they got a lot more Provincial funds than previously - They didn't do anything !

Whats more mind boggling is that despite that how the hell is PPP in the front-runner to be the largest party in Sindh !

In KPK PTI still doesn't have the majority to form a Government & were PML N so desire it they could very easily knit together a patch work of themselves & the two-three runners up in KPK to from a Government therein. But even if they don't - PTI can't form an independent Government & would need to enter into a coalition with a few of Maulana Diesel, Jamat-i-Islami, ANP or JWP !

This is a sure shot downer for PTI hopefuls. Is the blame truly to be laid at the feet of Punjabis or was it because of something that was found to be lacking in PTI's manifesto/campaign/track-record..etc.?

Maulana Diesel is going to join hands with PML N he already called Noora up to congratulate him & talk about a future electoral alliance, if reports are to be believed.

At any rate Diesel has a lot greater chance to throw his weight with PML N than with PTI because of the bad-blood between the two & how they'd never let PTI do half of the things PTI would want to do !

This one time greed had ruined future of MMA and now future of ANP. so if the winning candidates join hands for greed then they are doomed.

whereas those who worked for people will win . Just take example of MMA's Mufti Kifayatullah as i had been mentioning him for his last win, he won again and that too against PML N candidate in Hazara :)) although his party lost big time last time and this elections as well
