I always wanted s-400. Even though friends in this forum discourage me always with.
Money doesn't matter when you actually want things . Surely army which claims to be so disciplined force, have saved for it. Never buy anything from any country but always go onto joint production.
This is the necessity of time. We need s-400.
Pakistan should have gone with turkey in tfx program, but I am sure they have their reasons. Now they are making AZM. And they have plans for Jf 17. Block 3 is coming, maybe they go for block 4 too . By the time AZM is also going to come alive by then. I think Pakistan need another jet, and go in collaboration with Russia, turkey, china for joint local production. Russia and Turkish are the best bet. That would also diversify our range.

Only S400 will make sense. SU35 is great asset to have specially for long distance sorties over Arabian sea. However with project Azm going full swing, we will have our own 5th gen aircraft few years down the line. Stop gap measure will be provided by block 3 JFs.

we must continue to improve relations with russia.this su-35 and s-400 news is a sad situation for new delhi.they abandoned russia just for america and it's so sad.india have good weapons just because of russia but they have changed their entire policy.there is a trust deficit between russia and india.russia hates american presence whether it's in baltic or indian ocean but india is doing everything to irk russia.

Russia uses Pakistan for Bunny boiling India. The attention seeker Ruskies only want some Indian attention by trying and making them jealous. they aint selling any High tech weapons to Pakistan. Simple.
Putin was KGB chief during Afghan-Soviet war and had indirectly fought our ISI and still keeps the grudge.

Fanboys are just getting excited at a news clip. India is a cash cow and all and sundry want to milk that cow dry. There is.next to no chance Russians will sell pakistan su35 let alone s400. As the poster above pointed out it wasn't that long ago our SSG alongside the mujahideen were hammering the Russians in Afghan. The bear hasn't or will not forget that humiliation...mark my word

I think the defence minister read one of the wishlist threads on pdf and got over excited in Russia :sarcastic: oh bhai in cheezo kay liyay paisay kaha say lao gay!? T90 is believable, but su35 or SAM will require billions that we don't have.
rather than buying s400 PAF and army would argue to better buy the current HQ 16 along with more fighters
to which i would agree..fighters are much more multi role and flexible than stationery sams

its doctrine difference, USA for example focus on airforce while poorer countries on better SAM

This chit chat talks will keep happening between Pakistan and Russia , so far nothing materialize other than 4 Mil-35 .. buying S-400 is a far stretched dream , and Su35 ? i mean this fighter is good for a stop gap but still pretty expensive to buy and operate .. I doubt Pakistan or PAF will have such massive funds to buy it , and even if we manage to, than they wont be stepping in Pakistan before 2022..

its best for Pakistan to buy Buk M3 and Pantsir S2 systems , and negotiate for S-400 .. and in next 3-4 years when we have a Billion dollar to spare we can get that system .

*Situation in Afghanistan*

Both Islamabad and Moscow are interested in a stable and democratic Afghanistan as it will positively contribute to security in Central Asia, the minister said.

"We respect Afghanistan's sovereignty. Stability in Afghanistan is important for Pakistan to be able to develop its own prosperous future, to access to the Russian market, for example, by land route. Democratic and stable Afghanistan is in deep the interest of both Russia and Pakistan," Khan said.

Pakistan supports Russia 's efforts to bring stability and peace to the region and called on other regional and global powers to jointly devise a plan to end violence and defeat terrorism in Afghanistan, according to the official.

"We are supporting the Russian regional approach to Afghanistan and we hope that not only Russiabut also China, Iran and of course the United States can sit together at the table and devise a way in which we can achieve internal peace and reconciliation within Afghanistan," he added.

The minister also praised a new approach by the Afghan leadership when it comes to ending the prolonged conflict in the country.

"One positive step that has happened recently is a genuine approach by President [Ashraf] Ghani when he had said that he no longer wants to win the war, but to end the conflict. To win the war was militarist American approach but now the Afghan approach is closer to Pakistan's position on the matter. Pakistan's highest priority regarding Afghanistan is to have a peaceful democratic stable neighbor," Khan underlined.

Afghanistan has long been suffering from political, social and security instability due to the activity of the Taliban radical movement and the Daesh* terrorist group. To address this issue, Moscow has hosted a number of conferences to achieve peace in the war-ravaged country.

*Islamabad, Moscow Agreed to Enhance Defense, Intelligence Cooperation*

Islamabad looks forward to expanding defense cooperation with Russia in all areas, including military training, procuring equipment and sharing intelligence, Pakistani Defense Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan told Sputnik in an interview on Thursday.

"In the defense field, we signed a historical unprecedented Pakistan-Russia defense agreement in 2014. As a result, we have been able to conduct joint exercises, Pakistan has purchased Russian helicopters Mi-35 and now we are looking at much wider range of defense cooperation. In terms of training, Pakistani officers are coming to Russia and Russian officers are going to the Pakistani facilities for training. We are also now discussing a wider range of military exercises, we are looking at a wider range of military equipment and intelligence sharing," Khan said on the sidelines of the Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS).

The official commended the current level of defense industry cooperation, noting that in the future Islamabad hopes to expand the variety of military equipment sold by Russia to Pakistan.

"We are looking towards a great future in certain areas, in which Russia has excellent expertise, such as the tanks and air defense systems," Khan noted.

Even though Pakistan and Russiahad differences in the past on the Afghan crisis, the countries have now achieved mutual understanding on regional and international issues, according to the minister.

"Of course we have a history of Afghan war in which we have been on the opposite sides but now as a second decade of the 21st century ends, we will be able to look at world realities with a different eye and I am delighted to say that Pakistan and Russia are largely in agreement on major international issues like Afghanistan, like fighting drug trafficking, situation in the Middle East. We are now looking now at almost all aspects of defense and there is excellent goodwill between our leadership," Khan underlined.

The official went on to say that Islamabad is grateful to Russia for supporting its accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

The SCO is a political, economic and military intergovernmental organization founded by China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russiaand Tajikistan. Uzbekistan joined the SCO in 2001, while India and Pakistan became members in June 2017

As long as we can negotiate TOT that is fine , else forget it and lets start production with China on another plane.

If we can we should purchase US aircraft too as they are tried and tested and possess technologically advance and proven weapons systems which we are comfortable with.

Big statements, if that is whats actually happening.
There are key areas which should be tapped, these include but not limited to,
1 - Agri Exports
2 - Tourism
3 - Education exchange programs & Scholarships
4 - Small arm license production facility (For Pakistan)
