Pakistan developing maritime doctrine

.
PN ought to plan to extend its reach to the Moluccas in the east and the Red Sea in the west with capacity to dominate African east coast. While PN's aggressive tactics had kept IN confined to harbor during '65 War, in '71 we witnessed a poor coastal def capability. Coastal def is a tri-service enterprise ideally under a Navy officer. In this respect Iran, N Korea and China provide good examples of national response in case of an asymmetric situation.

.
Quick points.

1. Ensure that our SLOC remains open at all times.
2. As adm sandila has mentioned ensure a 2nd strike capability, conventional or nuclear.
3. A strong and effective maritime capability.
4. A strong and effective coastal defence.

.
Germans werent that big fan of Defensive systems either
And Pakistan needs a buffer zone against India which can hold India's march now if you look at Indian navy
Even if gets few more More capable ships and deploy them against india , India on the other hand can deploy extra numbers which can destroy the striking force.
Pakistan choose a sensible modern approach Subs will be the deep strike element being arbian sea is a busy area and which can provide good cover
And Ships can stay close to shores and Protect while long range land batteries cam can cover them

The numbers do count though due to scarcity of resources PN can't go for one to one match with IN. Yet surface ships and subsurface assets both are important. So far PN has no capable surface ship to defend itself even at medium ranges from air attacks due to absence of even medium term SAM with exception of three old F21 ships having LY60 SAM with vintage Radars and canisterised version limiting capability and area of operation. PN at least in short term requires three to four corvettes our frigates with VLS SAMs having range of abt 50 to 70KM. If not possible then they should try to arm there F22Ps with some decent medium range SAM even LY 60 will suffice if combined with modern sensors.

On the other hand PN should increase it's fleet of FACs with stealth features they may compensate for limited number of big ships and may pose serious threat to IN.

Now on the other aspect PN subs operational depth is abt 300 to 350 miles quite vulnerable to anti sub torpedoes/
missiles so until and unless they have sufficient aerial cover they are vulnerable which so far PN don;t have until and unless deep strike plat form like SU35 is inducted or PN gets atomic sub with operational depth of 600 Miles.

depth of 600 miles ?? deepest point in ocean is 10 miles

. .
Oh my god 600 miles?? Pak subs must be operating in molten lava of earth core!!

. . .
Modified Turkish design to meet Pakiatan's navy requirement for corvette and frigate.
Pakistan need 4 Corvettes and 4 heavy frigates by 2020, and 3 newer subs.

If i was the defense planner, i would have reached out to Hyundai and Daewoo Shipbuilding to design a heavy frigate/destroyer for Pakistan.

Pakistan developing maritime doctrine
THE NEWSPAPER'S STAFF REPORTER — UPDATED ABOUT AN HOUR AGO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is developing its maritime doctrine in response to ‘disturbing developments’ in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) to protect its maritime interests and respond to conventional and sub-conventional threats emerging there.

The draft doctrine is being reviewed at different levels in the navy and government ahead of adoption.

It has already been created last year. They are just finalizing it with the Civil government and are wanting the Civil government to fund future needed acquisitions. The Civil government has extensively asked for a complete overhaul of the Naval capability as it wants to ensure proper safety to the shipping routes that are about to bring about billions worth of trade through CPEC.

Here are a few highlights:
1) Obvious need: Increase in size over a few years to come. 2.5 times the current size.
2) 2-4 Various naval-air squadrons, dedicated to support Naval operations. The reason? Potential two war theaters, one around Gawader and the other one around Karachi.
3) To put a decent size of PN's assets out to 400 KM (from Karachi to the end of Pakistan's EEZ)
4) Deploy assets stretching as far as the end of Pakistan's EEZ by the Indian ocean with various offensive components as the ships and subs will be within a few hundred KM's of Bombay and Dawarka. Something that was never possible before the EEZ was granted to Pakistan.
5) Number 4 would have missiles boats in some numbers, ensuring another 300-350 KM offensive punch, putting IN's aircraft carriers estimated 400 KM's away from Mumbai, toward the other size of India (Andabar?).
6) Turning a Naval war into a war between the navies, minus the air-cover or limited air-cover. Due to assets spread to 400 KM's away from Pakistani harbors, it eliminates any possibility of "blockade" of any Pakistani port. The EEZ has made that part vanished and India can't do that anymore due to expanded EEZ (and their numbers in the next 5-8 years).
7) Internal ship building capacity with the ability to use European armament onto various ships and subs which will be built in Pakistan in the near future. The frigate and destroyer's basic design and hull development will be all in house. Weapon systems will be imported from EU, UK and Turkey (for higher end ships). Advance radar R&D is already starting through the help of Chinese within Pakistan to be self-sufficient in building naval radars in the future.
8) Generate revenue by building FAC's and Frigates in the future for other navies like the Sri Lankan navy, Bangladesh, different ME and African countries. Also grow R&D using Pakistani engineering institutes.

EEZ makes no difference in a war

Tell me you are not a senior level official working for the IN or some other Navy. You'd get a lot of people screwed and billions worth of ships lost very quickly. Keep your crappy opinions to yourself please. If you don't have anything to contribute, don't hit the reply button. EEZ gives a country the ability to deploy their navy way off their actual littoral limits, in the disguise of providing protection to ocean exploration related activities, and for various other reasons.

In the next 5-7 years, there would be a couple of Islands, right on the border of Pakistan's littoral waters, serving as naval / supply bases to support the PN's activities to the end of the EEZ. So PN would take 30-40% of their offensive force and would deploy it there, taking the load off of Karachi and Gawader area Naval bases. Till before the EEZ was granted, PN's assets were limited to just Karachi and the IN could blockade that little littoral limit very easily in a matter of days. Now, IN would have to remember that their would be missile attacks far beyond their reach (from 350 KM away), and the AC's would become useless. Not to mention even the Indian ships coming from the Strait of Homez will become targets of the PN from the EEZ borders. PN's missile ships can reach Oman and everything in between from the end of their EEZ. That means any Indian ship going to India.

EEZ or no EEZ Pakistani naval ships can roam the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean as long as you do not enter the territorial waters of other countries. You cannot exploit the economic resources from another country's EEZ. Indian navy has the right to operate into Pakistan' EEZ. Pakistan ability to intercept Indian maritime traffic is limited. You will get into a war with a navy 10 times larger.

It is pretty obvious you'll troll and would get away from the actual topic. I won't feed to a troll. Its clear your "thinking" has serious limitations!!
