At least seven Pakistani Taliban militants have been killed in a suicide attack in a tribal area near the Afghan border, intelligence officials say.

A local Taliban commander, Qari Saifuddin, was among those reported killed in the car bombing in North Waziristan, a militant stronghold.

It is unclear who was behind the attack near the town of Mir Ali.

Correspondents say the blast comes amid rifts in the Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups in the area.

Last month Pakistan Taliban leader Hakimullah Mehsud was killed in a US drone strike in North Waziristan.

Qari Saifuddin was travelling in a double-cabin pick-up truck with seven others when an explosives-laden Toyota station wagon rammed into it, reports said.

They were taken to a hospital in Mir Ali where he and at least six of his companions were pronounced dead.

Qari Saifuddin was named by officials as the mastermind of the high-profile abduction of at least 80 students and staff from Razmak Cadet College in North Waziristan in June 2009.

The hostages were freed a day later, reportedly after negotiations.

and they are fighting the taliban as we speak?
any sources?

Do you actually believe this nutshell :D

There is "S" wing though!
Nut-shell is a new one... quite the imaginative idea.
However, there is nothing so imaginative like that in some strike asset.. our khakis arent super folk and as such have tactics and ideas quite similar to the rest of the world. Here it seems like a simple case of either old enmity or perhaps hired asset. After all, a Suicide bomber is the cheapest precision guided weapons available for use anywhere in the world.

Imaginative idea, that instead of serving professionals waging war, they make the retired ones do it? What can the retired ones do that the serving ones cannot? It is not imaginative, just a half baked "idea" (hate to use that term) made up by people who want to believe that there are good, patriotic people who are as fed up as them, and have banded together to save the nation in times of crisis. The old superhero myth (superman, spiderman etc).

Anyway, on topic, many people were angry when a drone took out hakeemullah. But the rewards to be reapedd are rich, not just his elimination. What you see here is an example. Decapitating the top ones of an insurgency causes tensions, fissures, power struggles and infighting among the mid ranking cadre, and they start fighting each other. If the state uses that period of turmoil to their advantage, the insurgency will soon die. It is true of any organisation, whether the Chicago mafia or the LTTE or the mumbai underworld or the taliban. These are all human organisations, and their people have human ambitions and frailties. That is why decapitating the leadership is an excelent way to quell an insurgency.

It happened in India, with the north east insurgencies like ULFA, and is now happening with the maoists. It happened in Sri lanka, when the govt exploited fissures in the LTTE and caused the Karuna faction to turn against the LTTE leadership, and weakened them. USA did it succesfully in Iraq.

If pakistan uses this period of internal crisis (for the TTP) adroitly, they can eliminate the group. It requires skill and will and pragmatism, not juvenile notions of a super force of super patriotic retirees taking it upon themselves to do in their retired time, what they couldn't while they served.

its all private, no proofs, nothing to declare!

Soon they will be boarding PIA flight to Dehli, than you can meet them there.

Why will they come to New Delhi in an airline flight? They will need an IMF loan to buy the tickets.
Last I heard; they were riding a caravaan of horses and mules being led by "Lal-Topiwala Jamboora".
And Delhi Zoo has made all the arrangements to accommodate them.......
