Pakistan Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram has demanded immediate restoration of the frozen funds of Afghanistan.

Addressing a session of the UN Security Council on Thursday, he said that today Afghanistan is standing at an important juncture of history.

“The international community should help Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds,” he maintained.

He said that the Afghan land was used against Pakistan in the past.

“Pakistan was affected by the Afghanistan situation most of all. Learning from the past, the international community must remain engaged in Afghanistan.

Instability or economic collapse will perpetuate conflict and prolong the suffering of the people in Afghanistan,” he maintained.

.
Pakistan should talk to European counties most affected by the 2015 Syrian refugee crisis to advocate for money to be released or Europe could face a new refugee wave of millions.

.
He is right. The schools are open, the hospitals are open, the security forces are required - they all need salaries. Freezing Afghan funds will only lead to suffering.

The Syrian government of Bashar al Assad is keeping the country running despite decade-long Western government sanctions and the country facing invasion by tens of thousands of Western-government-created international criminals. The Taliban is facing none of this. The Pakistani Permanent Representative should also be speaking of Syria.

Afghanistan is the nieghbour of Pakistan, Syria isn't.
Pakistan is directly affected by Afghanistan, not Syria.
Pakistan gets refugees from Afghanistan, not Syria.
Topic currently in Afghanistan not Syria.
I could go on.

Why do you have to troll on every thread and derail it with your typical mumbo jumbo about few topics/countries/dogs/cats that you love talking about? Give it a rest.

I have first hand knowledge of the/Syrian refugees who have been admitted into UK. I can assure you they are in a far better state than the Afghanis in Afghanistan. I will readily concede that the ones in France/waiting to cross over were in very bad state and someone I know had made multiple day visits to France to take food for these refugees as well as collecting food here in Uk.

1. If the Imran government is really concerned about the common people of Afghanistan it should really be seeing the things the Taliban are doing like beating up women and journalists, not allowing protests and should be seeing the many Afghans who have fled Taliban rule. Pakistan should be helping in the real progress of Afghanistan by helping the progressive Afghans in overthrowing the oppressive and criminal Taliban. Instead what we see is PM Imran speak out poems in praise of the Taliban right after the 15th August takeover and now this statement in the UN Security Council.

2. The Syria war, actually an invasion by criminals supported by NATO+GCC, has gone on for ten years ! Does the Permanent Representative not see this tragedy too since he is talking human tragedy ? Doesn't the Imran government not want his Muslim brothers and sisters in Syria to be removed of their tragedy ?

OK. Britain is socio-economically and legally more developed than Afghanistan so the Syrian refugees will be more comfortable. But I maintain that the Syrians are refugees in Europe only because of the plot by the European / Western / NATO governments.

Afghanistan doesn’t have oil to smuggle

. .
The world should not make enemies out of civilians of a sovereign nation.

This is not how a mature sensible global village react, we imagine the world to be.

An alienation from the rest of the world is the last thing Afghanistan need.

p.s. ignore the Indian

. .
So Assad's government smuggles oil to who exactly ? And why do you call it smuggling ?

You love Assad because you have soft spot for the Baathist. You don’t even know that that Baathist movement was creation of the colonialists started by an Arab Christian. On hand you are a communist and the other you support exploitive tools of the colonists.

Yes I do have that soft spot. In fact in my solution proposal for the Kashmir issue and a longer term solution for political development of India and Pakistan ( thread link ) I have presented the example of Iraq and Syria, two Baathist countries.

You don’t even know that that Baathist movement was creation of the colonialists started by an Arab Christian.

About that Syrian Arab Christian Michel Aflaq I do know some of the beginning of the Baathist movement. I quote below section from this thread of mine from 2016 whose OP is a long article by Pakistani journalist Nadeem Paracha and chronicles leftist activism among Muslims around the world from the early 1900s onward :
In the Middle East, Islamic Socialism evolved into becoming a more nationalistic and revolutionary idea, mainly due to the creation of Israel (in 1948) and the expulsion of thousands of Palestinians from the area.

A Christian Syrian philosopher and Arab nationalist, Michel Aflaq, is remembered to be the originator of the Middle Eastern strain of Islamic Socialism that expressed itself as Arab Socialism and Ba’ath Socialism.

Born into an Arab Christian family, Aflaq became a communist at college and university, but broke away from the communists to formulate a radical and new Arab nationalist philosophy with another young Syrian, Salah ad-Din al-Bitar.

After studying the steady economic and political decline of the Arab peoples around the world, Aflaq and Bitar advocated the creation of a united Arab state.

For this they recasted Arab nationalism by infusing into it a heavy dose of socialist economic ideas, progressive cultural and social outlook, and by reworking the idea of Islam inherent in it by evoking ‘Qu’ran’s revolutionary spirit’ to counter injustice and inequality but separating Islam (as an organised faith) from the matters of the state.

Aflaq and Bitar claimed that this would lead to a renaissance in the Arab world, turning it into an economic and political power.

Their emphasis on the word renaissance (which in Arabic is ‘Al-Ba’ath’), gave birth to the term ‘Ba’ath Socialism,’ and soon both Aflaq and Bitar set out to define exactly how this form of socialism works.

Ba’ath Socialism appealed to the unity of all Arab nations on the basis of language/culture (Arab) and on the faith most Arabs followed (Islam).

It suggested that the Arab nations were being undermined by five forces: European colonialism (driven by capitalism); Soviet Communism; ‘decadent monarchies’ in Arab countries; Islamic conservatism within Arab societies; and the clergy and the ulema who were keeping these societies in the clutches of backwardness.

Ba’ath Socialism offered a path between Western capitalism and Soviet communism by suggesting that all Arab nations come together as one state under a single ‘vanguard party’ of Arab nationalists who would impose socialist economic policies, modernise society through education, science and culture, separate religion from the state but continue being inspired by the egalitarian concepts of Islam that would remain to be the faith of a majority of citizens in the united Arab state.

In spite of being staunchly secular, Ba’ath Socialism celebrated Islam as proof of ‘Arab genius’, and a testament of Arab culture, values and thought.
Why do you call the Baathists as being started by colonialists ?

It was created and encouraged by colonial powers British and French to undermine the influence of Islam as a political force create a secular elitist political class, they could control. Somewhat similar to encouragement and protection of the Ahmadiyya movement in pre independence India. Both movements have passed their usefulness.
