Pakistan and China bust human trafficking ring disguised as marriage proposals

I'm actually surprised how far this information is spreading. Normally anyone who is Pakistani and says something negative about China, they get called an agent or something lol.

"The Chinese embassy said last month that China is cooperating with Pakistan to crack down on unlawful matchmaking centers, saying "both Chinese and Pakistani youths are victims of these illegal agents.""

erm no china, the only victims here are these poor pakistani women, not the scumbags who they are marrying. There no chinese victims here in this case.
some of your countrymen here in this forum would disagree otherwise... i've seen some say that only people bringing up these allegations are people who do not know jackshit... or it's all lies etc

Our relationship with chinese will not be entirely 'straightforward and bortherly'. We have strategic and financial aims and they have strategic, politikal and financial gains. International relationships runs on mutual benefecence & that is how it should be governed limited under our law. Chinese should not be treated any better than anybody else in the market. With Ganja and his bhand group out of power, I hope this present government would straighten up international relations between these two countries.

Gujranwala, Pakistan -- Muqadas Ashraf was just 16 when her parents married her off to a Chinese man who had come to Pakistan looking for a bride. Less than five months later, Muqadas is back in her home country, pregnant and seeking a divorce from a husband she says was abusive.

She is one of hundreds of poor Christian girls who have been trafficked to China in a market for brides that has swiftly grown in Pakistan since late last year, activists say. Brokers are aggressively seeking out girls for Chinese men, sometimes even cruising outside churches to ask for potential brides. They are being helped by Christian clerics paid to target impoverished parents in their congregation with promises of wealth in exchange for their daughters.

Parents receive several thousand dollars and are told that their new sons-in-law are wealthy Christian converts. The grooms turn out to be neither, according to several brides, their parents, an activist, pastors and government officials, all of whom spoke to The Associated Press. Once in China, the girls -- most often married against their will -- can find themselves isolated in remote rural regions, vulnerable to abuse, unable to communicate and reliant on a translation app even for a glass of water.

"This is human smuggling," said Aslam Augustine, the human rights and minorities minister in Pakistan's Punjab province, in an interview with the AP. "Greed is really responsible for these marriages ... I have met with some of these girls and they are very poor."

Trending News
Augustine accused the Chinese government and its embassy in Pakistan of turning a blind eye to the practice by unquestioningly issuing visas and documents. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied that, saying China has zero tolerance for illegal transnational marriage agencies.

Human Rights Watch called on China and Pakistan to take action to end bride trafficking, warning in an April 26 statement of "increasing evidence that Pakistani women and girls are at risk of sexual slavery in China."

On Monday, Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency arrested eight Chinese nationals and four Pakistanis in raids in Punjab province in connection with trafficking, Geo TV reported. It said the raids followed an undercover operation that included attending an arranged marriage.

The Chinese embassy said last month that China is cooperating with Pakistan to crack down on unlawful matchmaking centers, saying "both Chinese and Pakistani youths are victims of these illegal agents."

The Associated Press interviewed more than a dozen Christian Pakistani brides and would-be brides who fled before exchanging vows. All had similar accounts of a process involving brokers and members of the clergy, including describing houses where they were taken to see potential husbands and spend their wedding nights in Islamabad, the country's capital, and Lahore, the capital of Punjab province.

"It is all fraud and cheating. All the promises they make are fake," said Muqadas.

Marriages happend with girls parent consent. Their parents have no problem. They receive money too due to rich Chinese.
Yeah the whole traffiking Christian church gang which uses these girls and role of their parents in this situation also needs to be countered

.
Religious leaders exploiting their own flock. Very sad state of affairs.

They should be held to account and brought to justice.

It is the duty of our state to assure Christian Pakistanis of safety and security, even from the predators in their own community and foreign coreligionists.

China’s Ministry of Public Security has sent a task force to Pakistan, to cooperate with the Pakistani authorities in the crackdown against human traffickers. In a statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, the Chinese authorities have made clear that they will protect transnational marriages and combat crime. The statement also said that some of the reports are fabricated; therefore they called for more responsible media reporting.

China sends task force to Pakistan for crackdown against Chinese gangs involved in trafficking

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Public Security of China has sent a taskforce to Pakistan to cooperate with its law enforcement agencies in their crackdown on Chinese gangs involved in fake marriages with Pakistani girls for trafficking them to China allegedly for organ harvesting and prostitution.

“China’s position on the issue of transnational marriage is very clear, that is to protect legitimate marriages and combat crimes,” read a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan on Friday.

The statement comes on a day when the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested two Chinese nationals at the Islamabad airport for their suspected involvement in human trafficking and also took three Pakistani women accompanying them into custody.

“If any organisation or individual commits a crime in Pakistan under the banner of cross-border marriage, China supports the Pakistani side to crack down on it according to Pakistani laws,” according to the statement.

The spokesperson further said the Ministry of Public Security of China had sent a taskforce to Pakistan to cooperate with its law enforcement agencies. “China will further strengthen cooperation with the law enforcement agencies in Pakistan, effectively combat crime, so as to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the two peoples, and jointly safeguard China-Pakistan friendly relations.”

The spokesperson claimed that some media reports also fabricated facts and spread rumours and hoped “the people of China and Pakistan do not believe the rumours.”

Another gang busted

The FIA Lahore Zone-I busted another Chinese gang from Lahore’s Johar Town earlier for forcing Pakistan girls into prostitution after promising them a lawful marriage and prosperous future.

Two members of the gangs were Pakistani and 14 Chinese. One of the rescued victims revealed the horrifying details of her exploitation in China. It was revealed that the girls who did not go into prostitution were used for illegal organ transplants.

Nazir Ahmad, the father of one of the victims, registered a complaint with the FIA and told them that how some agents contacted him and lured him into marrying his daughter to a Chinese.

The agents assured Nazir, for a brief period, he would be accompanying his daughter abroad where she would also be allowed to work.

After marrying ‘Musa’, the girl travelled to Islamabad and left for China. After some time, the girl called her father to reveal that the family had been duped.

According to Nazir’s daughter, her husband – who had not converted to Islam – was forcing her into prostitution.

When Nazir contacted the agents, he was told to contact their boss Wei Linping in Islamabad. When he contacted Linping, Nazir was told that the agents had received Rs2 million and he would have to pay the amount to get his daughter back.

Nazir was warned that the girl would be forced into prostitution or illegal organ transplantation if he did not pay the amount.

After the Pakistani High Commission intervened, the victim was recovered. In her appearance before the FIA, she revealed that the den of this gang was located in Johar Town.

So there are gangs in Pakistan who find greedy parents and offer them money for arranged marriage of their daughters.

But all of a sudden the Pakistani public is so concerned about the happiness of the brides just because the groom is Chinese.

It doesn’t matter about the nationality of the perpetrator, but what matters is to stop this horrible situation which our Pakistani Christian women face.

I am sure these gangs have Pakistani members too.

I think outside forces in the West are as usual whipping up the issue to provide more propaganda against China.

I hope Pakistani don’t fall into the trap. Just let the China & Pak police agencies to sort it out and bring people to courts.

There is a shortage of young women in China. If Chinese men want to marry Pakistani girls, as long as the gril is willing, then it shouldn't be a problem. Why is it all wrapped up in criminality?

You can't be serious! And a Chinese thanked your post too. Un****ing believable.
