this mean @MastanKhan is right we do need heavy for naval role as this little bird can only carry one large ashm like 802 at long distance as two hard points will be used for fuel tanks and that is too low to saturate the ship defenses
and this interview clears that currently paf has no plans for integrating cft on jf17 why are we not doing it we need it as much as we need aesa or irst as above statement shows that jf 17 lack sufficient fuel for maritime or deep strike role without two external tanks.

With a modest start JF-17 is becoming the beast it was destined to become. However as the days pass it is becoming more and more evident that JF-17 would form the backbone of PAF but we need some front line fighters that can lead the thunders in battle and hold forward operating bases. Moreover the naval role of the thunder would be limited as it can't carry heavy anti-ship missiles over long ranges.

This is confusing o_O, When he says that a 4th squadron of Blk2s will be raised within this year , was he talking about the no.02minhas squadron ? since the 5 blk1s at CCS are regarded as the 3rd jf-17 Squadron. But the no.02minhas squadron received blk1s ?
This interview is taken in June, no.02minhas raised in September.

anyway here is what i personally think is going on ....
As of Now .....

1. We have 3 squadrons of Jf-17s Blk-1s , no16Squadron (black panthers) ,no.26Squadron (black Spiders) and no.02Squadron (minhas)

2. 5 blocks1s aircraft at Combat Commander Schools , which are borrowed from the 3 squadrons and rotated with time. This isnt considered an official squadron i guess

3. 4th Squadron to be raised this year of Blk-2s ( 4 have been already produced uptil june, 14 more on the way )


interview is old and from June (paris air show) ... at that time minhas squadron wasn't raised

4th JF17 squadron is (sq 2 minhas) with JF17 block 2

CCS aircraft are being considered as one squadron

Most interesting news is about the WS-13 or to be named WS-17 for JF-17 will have 1000 hrs of engine life with 9300 kg of thrust that means 9300 x 2.25 = 20925 LBs of thrust as against current 19575 LBS. The Paris airshow PAF reveled more sharp maneuvers with RD-93 now in Blk-3 must be more maneuverable than earlier blks.

RD93 is a mature product, and is serving PAF well. As soon as PAF gets a breakthrough with Russia on RD93 support, the system will continue. China knows it, and is continuing its R&D on RD93 at the cost and risk of PAF.

KM is khalid mahmood. Do you think Chinese are friends to PK? Not even close. They are business people and they screw pakistan pretty well. We are much better off with western products that at least do what they claim.

I believe what our people are doing to us takes the most priority. If we can't root out the corrupt/inefficient amongst us then everybody will take advantage of us. Chinese btw have always been business people, but we're supposed to have something in our craniums too you know... (since i don't know the specifics of the matter i will not speak any further, my view are general in nature, pardon)

In the business environment, situations are created. Pakistan was isolated politically for quite a while, and Chinese took full advantage of it.

Not good b/c

WS13 or 17 have 20925 LBs with 1000 hrs and
RD93 have 20925 LBs with 2200 hours

I will go with RD93 b/c it don't have much difference and life is more then twice so saving more bucks.

As per PDF seniours...WS 13 is less smoky, More efficient, Computerized coded etc, provide more thrust, great flying hours life, smaller in size, as compare to old smoky fuel guzzler RD 93,,

It is also unproven. Which essentially means there is no proof to gauge whether what it claims to do it actually does. Hence there is no reason to go for it.

engine ensures aircraft remains in the air. You don't take a risk there.

All smoke and mirrors. I don't know who PDS seniors are, and what kind of technical analysis they are capable of, but people who work on military engines would disagree.

Anything beyond the light blue and Blue shade, or administration is generally "seniority" based on how much they talk.
