WS-13's 1000hrs is initial TBO not its entire life and current RD93 have TBO of 700 hrs and total life of 4000hrs normally and 2200hrs with increased thrust. Not good b/c
WS13 or 17 have 20925 LBs with 1000 hrs and
RD93 have 20925 LBs with 2200 hours
I will go with RD93 b/c it don't have much difference and life is more then twice so saving more bucks.
RD93 have 18,260lbf thrust and RD93MK(RD33MK) have 20,000lbf thrust in contrast WS-13 have 19,420lbf and WS-13A have 22,450lbf thrust. Both engines (i.e RD33MK and WS13A) have FADEC and equivalent service life.
WS-13A or WS-13B(supposedly next improved version) will likely be going to enter service with PAF if ever it happen. In addition to that WS-13 will be used on J-31 so it may have some stealthiness inherited in it.
So all in all if WS-13 will be used on JF-17 it will be improvement in Performance, Reduction in unit price, Increase in service life, increase in payload, smoke less engine and support to better EW. Base WS13 is almost copy of RD93 with some improvements in some areas so it inherits the maturity of RD93.
