Pakistan accuses Iran of killing man in border incursion

its unfortunate that despite measures taken in the past couple years, such incidents (which are rare) still do take place

well one thing is sure..due to ultra shai govt in Iran and sunni majority in pakistan..its impossible to have excellent relationship..but war of course is unexpected not logical for two reasons..
1. Pakistan doesnt want it..
2. Iran will face other problems... so she doesnt want it too

anyway their behaviour and super pricing in gas pipline project trying to take advantage of our gas dependence, is itself the the indication of our strength of relationship

first of all, Pakistan wants good relations with all countries --especially Muslim countries like Iran, with whom we have in the past at least had at least warm ties. There's never been much hostility in the past.

it has nothing to do with Shiia vs. Sunni; after Iran, Pakistan has the 2nd largest Shiia population. In fact, there are orthodox Sunni parties like Jamat Islami which are in favour of increasing ties with Iran and following their leadership.

Iran wont face problems by having good relations with Pakistan. These border incidents certainly do cause irritations on both sides, so therefore there needs to be a more professional approach adopted to confront them.

There are outside powers that will be very pleased to see tensions erupt between Pakistan and Iran. In this case however, it clearly was an act of trigger-happiness by a few members from the other side. Let the facts come out first and then we can reach proper conclusions.

Who are Iranians to be complaining of Jundullah when they have supported Shia militancy in Pakistan for decades? Even if ISI is supporting Jundullah, it's justified as far as I can see. They supported Hezbollah in Lebanon which has angered many Lebanese people. So who are they to accuse Pakistan of supporting insurgency in their country when they have done it to us for a much longer time?

* Iran requested Pakistan to release its border guards

* Arrests 17 Pakistani fishermen in tit for tat reaction

Staff Report

QUETTA: It seems that all is not well at the borders, especially at Pak-Iran border. The arrest of Iranian border guards at the hands of FC took an ugly turn on Tuesday when Iran warned that it would close its border with Pakistan for a prolonged period. Earlier Iranian officials held a series of talks with their Pakistani counterparts for the release of the border guards but nothing has been done so far.

Three Iranian security personnel intruded three kilometres inside Pakistani territory in Mazansar area of Mashkel border region on Sunday and reportedly killed a man identified as Saeed Ahmed Reki. Ahmed’s younger brother was also injured in the incident. Washuk district officials, supported by the Frontier Corps (FC), rushed to the spot and booked all three Iranians.

Iran had already tightened the security along the border, including coastal area, with Pakistan. It had virtually closed the Mashkhel borders following the incident disallowing movement of goods and people between Iran and Pakistan. “Iran will close the entire 900-kilometre long border with Pakistan if the officials continue to follow a discriminatory policy towards Iran. Zero Point is open for the trade. However, security across the border has been beefed up by Iranian forces,” sources reveal.

Zero Point, a trade point between Pakistan and Iran, had remained closed for several months last year suspending the informal trade between people of either side of border.

According to sources, the deceased and his injured brother were allegedly involved in narcotic business. Local administration had registered a criminal case against Iranian security personnel amid tension between the two countries.

Iranian security personnel were implicated in cases of manslaughter and trespass in the international frontiers. Following registration of criminal cases, FC had handed over custody to the Balochistan Levies for legal proceedings. Iranian officials deplored this attitude and termed it negative saying that the Pakistani border security forces should cooperate with Iran in fighting narco business in the border region.

On the other hand in a tit for tat reaction, Iranian forces arrested at least 17 Pakistani fishermen and impounded three trawlers near Gwatar Bay following the incident in which Iranian security personnel were caught over border violation. The fishermen belonged to coastal belt of Balochistan and Pakistan officials have asked Iranians for their release of fishermen but to no avail. According to people in Jewani, an Iranian security boat entered Pakistani territorial water and arrested fishermen who were engaged in legal fishing.

This is how they show their might by arresting innocent civilians because they would never come after our soldiers. These are the people who Pakistanis want to see armed with nuclear weapons. I'm telling you if America or Israel does not disable their nuclear facilities, we should do it for our own security. Another security step we should take is deporting all these Arab/Iranian loving Pakistanis to the Middle East.

Actually those weren't Iranians border guards at all, they were indian soldiers disguised as Iranians...no wait they were CIA agents posing as Iranians to create strife between Muslims...no wait those were Jewish Mossad agents trying to create strife between us and our "brotherly" Iranian friends they were also responsible for bombing those Pakistani fishing boats.....wait i've run out of excuses....it turns out they were actually Iranians border guards! :woot:

I'm not trying to be biased, but, I wouldn't mind if there isn't another nuclear armed state. ;)

Look at those comments Iranian border guards still in Pakistani custody - Yahoo!

Indians and people from the west are so excited....bad news for them..Pakistan won't do anything stupid !!!

They are Pakistanis with cyber nicknames just like you and I, it doesn't mean we are Western. Pro-Iranians/Arab Pakistanis always use these incidents to defend their Iranian and Arab masters, no matter what they do.

The Mullah regime of Iran has always behaved erratically with Pakistan for over 30 years. They pretend to be our brothers then suddenly become our enemies. They've been behaving like this ever since they came to power in 1979. I don't trust them one bit. They are two-faced, and are probably working with our enemies against us.

Yes we had great relations with Shah of Iran but let's face it today's Mullah regime in Iran is not our friend.

They have gone too far

There already too much tension in the region, and lets face it sometimes the Media doesn't really help the situation much. Let the government talk things out. I am sure the Iranian and Pakistani government can come to a good solution to the current issue.

Pakistan charges Iranian border guards with murder

TEHRAN: Pakistan police on Tuesday charged three Iranian border guards with the murder of a Pakistani man shot dead on Sunday in a cross-border attack in the country’s southwest.
The three guards were held late Sunday in southwestern Balochistan province along the Iranian border after they allegedly crossed the frontier and shot at a car, killing a Pakistani national.
Police said they had charged the Iranians following a written complaint from the father of the victim.
“We have registered a murder case against the three Iranians and will present them in court,” said Abdul Malik, officer in charge of the Mazan Sar Mashkail area, where the three were arrested.
A brother of the victim was also wounded by gunshots in the incident, police said.
The Iranians reached the area in Washuk district, three kilometres inside Pakistan, where they opened fire on a vehicle they were chasing, according to officials in the insurgent-hit province.
Pakistani officials said the Iranian guards were trying to take both Pakistani nationals back into Iran.
Malik said the three Iranians were in the custody of Pakistan paramilitary Frontier Corps and a request has been sent to hand them over to police.
Iran working to secure release of border guards
The Iranian Border Guards Commander Brigadier General Hossein Zolfaghari on Tuesday called on Pakistan to release three Iranian border guards who had “entered Pakistan by mistake while chasing armed drug smugglers.”
“Pakistan border guards should immediately release the three guards who were doing their job,” Zolfaghari told IRNA news agency adding that a second round of negotiations with the Pakistani border police will take place in coming hours to secure the release of the detainees.
“Three days ago border guards in Saravan, Sistan Baluchestan province, exchanged fire with a group of vandals and armed smugglers, killing two, injuring and arresting two others while the rest managed to escape into Pakistani territory. 500 kilograms of drugs were also seized,” he stated.
The Iranian Commander said that a group of Iranian border guards chased the smugglers at night at zero point of the border and “unintentionally crossed into Pakistan before being arrested by their Pakistani counterparts.” Zolfaghari also called on Pakistani border guards to stop cross border drug trafficking into Iranian soil, IRNA report said.
Iran guards ‘unintentionally’ crossed Pakistan border
Earlier, Iranian border guards accused of killing the Pakistani civilian “unintentionally” entered Pakistan in pursuit of drug traffickers, the commander of Iran’s police border guard said Tuesday.
“Three Iranian border guards pursued the drug traffickers and unintentionally and due to darkness entered Pakistani territory and were arrested by Pakistani forces,” Hossein Zolfaqari was quoted as saying by the ISNA news agency.
Zolfaqari denied any Pakistani civilian was killed in the incident.
Zolfaqari said a delegation of Iranian border guards had spoken with Pakistani officials asking for the release of their colleagues and that more talks were scheduled.
He noted that the border is poorly marked.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast, asked about the incident, told reporters on Tuesday: “We do not have precise details. Usually such incidents do occur in the borders but it will be solved with discussion by both sides.”
Iranian officials say 3,500 members of their security forces have been killed in clashes with traffickers over the past 30 years, mainly in areas bordering Afghanistan or Pakistan.

I agree IPI and also TAPI are both a risk. Don't forget that TAPI will run through Afghanistan, but I agree Iran is out of control. I was all for Pakistan-Iran friendship, but not anymore after this incident.
Turkmenistan gas pipeline is out of question unless a full flege taliban govt or good central govt comes into power which will honour the deal.
a better option is qatar pakistan undersea gas pipeline, initial studies says that its possible. as qatar has vast reserves of gas this could be an excellent option.

and worst relationship during ziaulhaq era ...they have improved alot these days

these are eye opening incidents!!! we are not certainly living in khilafat era, so we cannot think of iran as really our brother country. may be iran is doing all this coz of its INDIAN LOVE to put a lil more pressure on pak .
i dont know , why everyone is taking us for granted  . i'll really support, if next time such thing happens, pak army or border security get two -three iranians down.
