Pak to bid for non-permanent UNSC seat next year

For the benefit of those who did not read this earlier:

Let me try to 'explain' pakistan's vote for India:

India was widely expected to win and frankly speaking, Pakistan's vote against India would not have made much of a difference.

But Pakistan has made a smart move by voting for India. Why? It now gives them the right to demand reciprocal treatment.

'Ek teer se do shikaar.' That's what Pakistan has done. Now they've put India in a spot as to whether to vote for or against.

Pakistan's vote in essence did not make any difference and yet gave them an opportunity to play the 'goodwill gesture' card with India.

Although, I have serious doubts if Pakistan would still have voted in India's favour had there not been such a wide support for India's candidature.

P.S. I see a strategic opening here for India. Now think, when the issue of Permanent membership comes up and Pakistan led 'Coffee club' seeks to stall India's moves, at that time this vote by Pakistan in India's favour now will prove instrumental to counter whatever 'logic' being promulgated by Pakistan against giving India the permanent membership.

Its a good thing for Pak to seek a seat at the UNSC.

I wonder why Pak has to follow everything India does ? Surely this thought could have come earlier too unless considering the over whelming votes India got Pak was apprehensive to contest now.

We saw the same thing with the 123 deal. Power shortage was a prob in Pak (like India) even before the deal. As soon as the deal came thru, Pak clamored for the same.

No probs on both issues, Pak has an equal right to seek a place under the Sun, but the thought remains.. why only after India gets anything...

Think about it, why did they not give India the MFn status...because there is no possibility to demand reciprocal statement. They already have MFN status from india.

if loosing kashmir means giving it to pakistan or giving it any kind of independence...just forget it.

if loosing means resolving the issue in accordance with what Mushy-MMS agreead upon, while turning LoC as border and offering much greater people to people contact...sure yes, why not?

When u will understand the reality nobody care for Kashmir,nobody is even ready to even speak the k word in front of our economic might

If the rule is broken once then it can be again, and since the precedent was set, its the right of every country on this peacefull green earth to go for civil nuclear deal, we followed suit, who knows later in years how many will follow including Iran or North Korea.

I'll say its more like lack of original destructive thinking that we lack, be it declaration as nuclear power or illegal nuclear deal.
