Pak president refuses to leave airport until protocol sent back

Usman Buzdar visited D.I khan with 29 vehicals in protocol.
Air Port is located in Cantt and from Air Port to Mall Road, there is already tough security.
Thread is about president and his refusal to do so and to set an example ...Kindly stick to the thread :enjoy:

I think comparing it with Europe is not realistic. Even the position of US president is kept secret despite the use of top notch security with most advanced technology.
THAT is why I didnt compare it to US, where school shooting and inbred terrorism is inevitable...

Pakistan is trying to have a soft image and it has to start from the elite and politicians!

I think we all know that security situation in Pakistan is still not at the level where we can afford stupidity of losing head of state, prime minister or any other high profile ministers just for sake of psychological points. It's not that I care about politicians, but any unfortunate mishap will put stain on country which will take years to roll back at domestic (psychological effect) and international levels (impression of Pakistan becoming safer). All this "without protocol incidents" are showoff and for public consumption only, if they were serious about it than they would have abolished the bluebook or at-least amended the rules to end VIP culture, unless they do that the security agencies are bound to follow it otherwise in case of any mishap they will be held responsible for not following the described SOPs.
Well, if a mishap happens, it is on them...

If it is a stunt, then it is to help people get out of the insecurity that they need massive armies to protect them!

If it is real I would like to give such thought a chance!

I am not exactly sure what you think a president should "act" like....

Each party can have their clowns... :coffee:

Officials simply shouldn't create scenes and put the security staff in fix for show off. You have to keep in mind that people managing security affairs are servants of state not President, PM or Ministers etc. in person, and they have to follow the rule of business defined by state, they will be held responsible for negligence in following these rules in letter and spirit. So, what President did is called obstruction in government duty. As I said earlier if government really thinks that the standard protocol and security details are more than needed then amend the blue book and change it there - security staff will follow these new rules, if government thinks that President, PM and Ministers should move around like common people without protocols and security, no roads should be blocked to give them passage then abolish the blue book altogether then nobody will come to give them protocols.

Problem with hyper-populist governments is that they feel the need to keep giving feel good news to their supporters every day. More often than not, this leads them to do stupid things. This act of Prez May or may not be one of such steps.

He is president, he requested less security...If they dont listen to president whoelse would?
2ndly, if they are so efficient they should tell him not to tweet such stuff - taliyan 2 hands
They did pass a law to have 5 cars for security no?

No one is going in extremes....There needs to be security but 32 cars? Common!?

I do agree President didnt need to show it off but how else to show the media who keeps saying he does nothing for the people? The people seem interested in everyone's day to day life...Like watching Kardashians has become a habit in US!

Dude state don't run on verbal requests and orders specially the critical affairs, security of VVIP and VIP is managed by blue book. It's hypocrisy that President don't ask to change the rules but verbally requests public servants not to follow the rules which they are bound to follow as per book given to them. And believe me President's minimum protocol defined in blue book is lot bigger than 5 cars.

Well maybe it takes time to change the rules? I am not sure if he is taking steps to do so or is his personal preference to have less cars...

We are not Europe, at least not now. We have foreign sponsored terrorist groups actively trying to harm the country and portray a negative/unsafe country image about Pakistan. How would President's tweet help the country if some group tries to kidnap him or kill him?

As I said it is an appreciable thing to do away with the VIP culture, but there is no need to announce to everyone where you are at any given time.

If the president wont feel safe neither will locals...If president is safe enough to advertise himself, we should also feel safe....It is a bit of psychology there too...when the leaders behave as locals to show they represent the local population - as done in Europe...

A good decision...

Charity begins at home...

if u are sincere to the people, you won't need any protection in any form. People of Pakistan will be ur protectors besides the no#1 Divine Protection.

THAT I understand. And I did say:
