Beijing—Pakistan’s navy is very satisfied with the performance of the F-22P frigate it bought from China and hopes to further the cooperation with the nation, said Admiral Noman Bashir, Pakistan’s Chief of Naval Staff.

Two of the four F-22P frigates it ordered are already in service in Pakistan Navy, with the third one scheduled to be commissioned on September 15 this year. It’s also expected that all four ships will be in service by 2013.

“We are very happy with the performance, and some technology is as good as in Western countries,” said Noman Bashir, who visited China four times last year was quoted as saying by The China Daily. Pakistan also hopes to buy bigger ships with more firepower from China, such as 4,000 ton class frigates.

Pakistan has proposed to develop strategic maritime cooperation with China in both military and commercial sects, such as in fishery, economic development zones, and cargo, he said. “The friendship between China and Pakistan is greater than the Himalayas and deeper than the Ocean. We already made progress in air force and other areas, now we should further and expand the cooperation in Navy, a broadly-based relation.”

Pakistan’s strategic geographical location in the Arabian Sea and its long coastline mean its possible contribution to the missions of China’s navy, particular under the context of energy need from the Persian Gulf, said Pakistan officials. Pakistan also has rich experiences in countering illegal activities at sea in order to maintain maritime security, four ships participated in anti-piracy operations.

It has been suspected for too long that Chinese bluewater navy will be operated and manned by Pakistan as china does not want to raise world alert particularly indian.

PN wil still hope even after they get hands onto chines subs to get hands onto the German beauty once all issues are resolved as this wass there first choice for next generation Sub..

The chinese pacifer factories cannot keep up with demand when India cries and they dont pay in dollars like the US. Better not to make the baby cry!

When did India raised any concerns for any defence supply from China to Pak, will anybody care to explain?? Or simply want to bring India in all the threads and derailed them? Get a life guys.

August 13, 2010: A year ago, two years after placing the order, Pakistan received the first of four F-22P frigates. The Pakistani have been very pleased with their inexpensive Chinese warships, and are planning on ordering four more. The second F-22P entered service late last year and the third is due this year. The fourth one is under construction in Pakistan. The F-22P an improved version of the Chinese Jiangwei II (053H3). Pakistan already has four of these, as the F-22.

The 123 meter (406 foot) long F-22P displaces 2,500 tons, and carries an eight cell short range (8.6 kilometers) FM-90N surface-to-air missile system. There are two, four cell anti-ship missile systems (180 kilometers range C-802s), two, three cell launchers for rocket launched ET-52C anti-submarine torpedoes, two, six cell RDC-32 anti-submarine rocket launchers. There is also a 76.2mm gun, two 30mm anti-missiles auto-cannon, and a helicopter. Each ship has a crew of 202 and a top speed of 52 kilometers an hour. The F-22Ps are inexpensive, costing about $200 million each. The new American LCS weighs about the same, but has only half as many sailors in the crew, lots more automation and costs over $600 million.
Surface Forces : More Chinese Frigates Please

well there is nothing new in it more ships what you means since last 5 years every one knows we will be getting those

Although I think Pakistan should purchase additional F22P frigates as a general purpose vessel to act as the core naval vessel I think an air defence orientated frigate like the Type 054A is needed to provide area defence for the fleet.

It would be more logical to try to get MK-13s refitted on those OHPs rather then a new platform. Alternatively Pakistan could get the Milgem fitted for this role when they order some depending on what rights they get in the deal.
