Really??, Considering we Pakistani's are the most gullible suckers for any religious nutjob who claims to have the mahdi's calling.. Id certainly doubt that any party would survive long if it openly supports the recognition of Israel.
The only possible way is to approach Palestinian moderates like Mahmood Abbas and coax them into making a statement "asking" Pakistan to play a part directly. Then using the resolution of the Palestinian issue as an excuse we can officially recognize Israel.


As for the indirect contacts.. especially to those who are preaching Jihad and generously quoting the Quran.. where do you think you were able to get the more sophisticated electronic equipment for your F-16's initially back in the 80's? The PAF F-16's were tricked out compared to the normal F-16's and some of the electronics had "Made in Israel" written all over them, which had to be scratched away by US personnel before delivery so as to not incite an issue.
Mossad and ISI had one of the strongest links during the 80's.
And once you were sanctioned, most electronics like ring laser gyro's, Data rams came from Israel via Jordan or Egypt..some part of your dad's earning went into that as well..

And Israel supplied weapons to Pakistan during the Zia era - so it is not as if the two countries have had no relations.

And...another interesting note: Up to some time in early 90s, the passport also used exclude travel to the former Warsaw Pact countries like Bulgaria, Hungary (or something like that)?

By the way, Israel did not directly supply arms to Pakistan in the 80s against the Soviets. Most probably there were these intermediaries who collected weapons from a host of Western and Muslim countries and delivered them to the Mujahideens.

The closest Pakistan came to publicly having 'relations' with Israel was when Foreign Minister S. Shalom of Israel shook hand with Foreign Minister Kasuri of Pakistan. Around that time Musharraf also addressed an major-Jewish organization in America.

So be careful as you dig up one more anti-Zardari 'traitor' label. Some of us actually pay attention to news about Pakistan and our memory is not too bad.

Those were mainly AK's for the "Mujahideens" to conduct "Jihad" .
It was not Pakistan's choice to get anything from them. The US paid for it, we were merely a conduit. BTW the arms were apparently what they had confiscated from PLO etc. I helps to seek knowledge!
