What's new

PAF's JF-16 Fighter Jet

too expensive

it will perform both on land and on sea. one jet for 2 roles.. so, it will not be expensive given the role.

The sortie generation won't be as great as flying a Viper......more hangar queens unless there is unlimited supply of spare parts from the Russians.

JF-16......I've heard it all.....

if russia is not reliable than buy J-11D and J-16 from China then there won't be any issue of supply..

and another thing is that given the same platform for PAF and PLAAF there won't be any issue for PAF, it can easily fly PLAAF fighters.

How about J-10C/D or JH-7A @New World

.
If that was the consideration..why did the "einsteins" in PAF not select Rafale? ...
They never formally evaluated it other than have a look at it via a delegation about 12 years ago. Unit price is expensive but then again you need to remember Einstein knew the maths and physics behind things....he never was into integrating pieces together.

And PAF "einsteins" know stuff better than we do....they have their own procurement people, granted they should have qualified test pilots by profession rather than experience when it comes to evaluation....but they'll get there again if they are tenacious enough.

J-10C/D and Jh-7A are the good fighters jets but there are 3 things to remember.
1. the fear J-11D and J-16 is no match by j-10C/D and jh-7A.
2. Paf thinks that j-10C/D capabilities will be match by jf-17 blk3 but with fever range.
3. Paf thinks that Jh-7A is old platform.

This is called a 'Midas' special. Midas is a complete end to end parts depot for cars in Southern africa.
Wondering what is wrong with that approach? I mean if you have a working machine, who would care where the parts came from. After all some countries could even do that in 40 years. Also the good thing is once you have mastered transforming these multi-sourced part into a cohesively working machine, what stops you from putting/replacing/integrating more and more advanced parts/sub-systems into it.

As you want AD fighter jet then J-11D yes it more advance but more expensive to buy and maintain as compare to J-10C/D, and Block-3 nowhere near then J-10C/D but J-10B except the range, J-16 has same problem as J-11D JH-7A is relatively cheaper to J-16 @New World o_O

Hi,

The truth is that the Paf pilots and maintenance crews have been spoiled by the F16---.

Even the F35---the F22 spend a lots of time in the hangar as compared to the F16's---.

The Paf approach had been unrealistic for the last many decades---.

If the Paf really is as capable and highly proficient in what they do---then by default of their techniques the SU35---the J11's etc would have lower down time---.

If that was the consideration..why did the "einsteins" in PAF not select Rafale? ...

Hi,

The term they use is---" Hamein Samajh Nahin Aayee uss waqt ".

Those idiots claimed that the Rafale was not battle proven---.

Nobody ever gets spoiled by the F-16.....the jet flies really well because of the effort of the maintenance crews. The pilots definitely enjoy it for its role and capability. It may be a truth for your satisfaction but as a guy who has had an opportunity to have time on the jet, it is a great aircraft to be operating in an air force.

The Su-35 as great as an aircraft it is will require heavy modifications if it were to maintain the 200 plus annual flight hours per pilot in an operational squadron. Such is the requirement by PAF....and that doesn't come easy despite certain mistakes like the A-5 and F-6 to some extent.....the F-16 was a great answer to PAF, if only BVR was acquired in the past....

36 fighters will have only 50% availablity and will cost 3+ billion dollars
vs getting used f-16 would not even cost 1 billion dollars with 70%+ avaiblity
i am not counting the cost assocated with training

Hi,

You went on a wild tangent in a direction I cannot see---.

So---let me re-phrase the words---. When we get an item that has an extraordinary performance with very little problems---we get used to it---and judge everything else on that standard.

And all the statements on anyone who is someone in the Paf says the same thing---it is the best of the best---so when you have the best of the best---it is very difficult to opt for the second best---.

That was the simple meanings of my comments---. My satisfaction or disatisfaction had nothing to do with my comments---.

That makes more sense. I understand my good sir. Cheers !!!

Well, Rafale is made by Dassault upon the foundation, experience and success of Mirage of which PAF had an extensive experience since 70's. If Mirage is battle proven and Rafale was purported by the same manufacturer to being more advanced, better in all parameters..what part of the message our "einsteins" couldn't decode?
