PAF to Induct Modified Version of FD-2000 SAM: Journalist Ather Kazmi

. . .
Tailor made for PAF requirements looks to be a over statement. Air defense systems are very complex / expensive systems. Did PAF paid for all that research to get it tailor made according to its need ?. At most changes could be done at radar levels / command center units. But changes in missiles itself is unlikely.

On the other hand, what looks more agreeable is PAF had the option to select a ready-made system off the shelf, PAF selected whatever was closest to fulfilling the needs and was in PAF's budget.

Right now, there is very less credible information available. So It can be very possible that this system may not be as advance as H-Q9/P. It could be being procured to add another layer of protection. PAF understands the value of air defense systems do need more AD systems. It makes more sense for these systems to be under air force. As air force is the one which is guardian of air-space, PAF is in better position to identify hostile objects and make a decision if fighter jets needs to be scrambled or SAM needs to be activated. Army in possession of H-Q9/p can only be super effective if synergy between AF and PA is optimum. They may share same network of radars but at command level / what decision to be taken in a moment's notice can be tricky if multiple forces are involved.

Imagine if Navy goes HQ9 route. Then Navy won't be buying trucks with big tubes, but ships with big tubes. 😁

.
HQ-9 is a modified version of FD-2000, already with P.A. The interesting part is, PAF is getting further modified version of HQ-9 (FD-2000 previously) like a tailor made version for PAF.

Do we remember there was a news about Pakistan detecting USAF fighters above the sky of Arabian Sea? A lot of fun was made about PAF and detecting F-35 near or close to Pakistan Air Space but just pay attention to what he said.

Anchor Person is not wrong on most of accounts. He is directly referring to his sources and I don't see anyone with having such career with Media will ever risk like that and cause embarrassment through lies & made claims.

Yes that makes sense. But why would the PAF go for its own customised version of a system already inducted by the army? How would their roles be different?

Now that is the secret recipe that no one else might ever know exactly. Army with it's own doctrine/tactics and PAF with own doctrine/tactics making sure to build a formidable defence in layer by layer and step by step manners. One can assume per roles and their different set of requirements. So you do not procure same system of similar work/capability like a uniform pattern. I am sure that we work on different levels & cover every patch with diversification in controlled approach. We don't have luxury to buy everything out there and allocate man/economy but a smart & intelligent working approach can overcome a lot of shortcomings and can help build even a far better defence/offensive package. Similarly, PN will be having their own set of equipment as per PN's requirement/doctrine & tactics. These systems wouldn't work individually always but connect to a central command and therefore, all military branches been conducting joint exercises as well. Interoperability is the key and I am pretty confident that Pakistan Armed Forces are well prepared in this area.

As per sources PAF already placed an order FD-2000, heavily modified version range up to 250 KMS...AESA radar with capability to detect stealth fighters and engaging C.M up to 25 KMS.
@The Eagle
That means Army and Air Force are going for same system. Good one but I am pretty sure we would also go a a system like SPADA. It seem Air Force is going to built its own three layered Air Defence system to protect its installations.

I hope so.

I am happy that tri services are giving great attention to air defence systems.ADsystems remained neglected in favor of Fighter jets for long time.150km plus range LR defence systems
40km plus range MR defence systems and 10-20 km SR defence systems are present now.happy for this layered structures.

. . . . .
What AD systems did we have in place during 2019 skirmish?
Army had LY80AE, FM90, MANPADS (Anza and Stinger for eg) as well as SPAA, such as 35mm GDF guns and what not

Air force had SPAADA 2000, crotales (they still in service?) and maybe just maybe the hq2b which i think was taken out of service im not to sure.

Navy had FM90M and CIWS. As well as MANPADS.

@PanzerKiel question for you sir. Have the HQ2B been phased out of service completely or are they still here? Also are the crotales still in service?
