I think there's a relationship between having good pilots and producing good cricket's fast bowlers.
I think it's the same attitude, aggressiveness, rebelliousness, spark behind both.

The walk around is actually a set of checklist procedures where all sorts of items are looked at & checked before climbing in & departing.
Careful checks of things like flight controls, hydraulic lines, fuel tanks & weapon settings are important items on the pre flight walk around
