MANSEHRA, Nov 19: A PAF air commodore and his wife were killed and their son sustained critical injuries when the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a deep ravine at tourist resort of Shograin in Kaghan valley on Friday, it was learnt.

The family of Air Commodore Nisar Ali, who was posted at Islamabad, was on a trip of Kaghan valley to celebrate his promotion.

While on way back to Balakot from Shogran Nisar Ali, who was driving the vehicle, could not control the steering while negotiating a steep turn and the car plunged into a deep ravine. Mr Nisar died instantly and his wife and son were rushed to King Abdullah Teaching hospital and later to Ayub Medical Complex hospital in Abbottabad in critical condition.

Hospital sources said the wife of Air-Commodore Nisar Ali, Rafia Yasmin, succumbed to injuries at the hospital and the condition of the injured son Talah Nisar, 18, was stated to be serious.

Sources said Nisar Ali had returned recently from China after being trained as engineer in the fighter jet Thunder F-17 and was promoted to the rank of the air commander and posted in Islamabad from Karachi, the native city of the late officer.

Sad.. road safety is negligible in Pakistan.
People dont wear seatbelts unless under the threat of a fine..
cars are poorly manufactured..only the top end carry airbags.

Your chances of survival when a car falls in a ravine are close to nil.

I have been to Shogran, and it's pretty steep. Depends where the car falls, but in any case, a ravine fall is going to be pretty bad.

Inalillahe wa Ina Ilehe Rajeoon, irreparable damage to the family.

Sir no car in the world is strong enough to endure the fall if you are unfortunate enough to go off road in these regions, the minimum fall is not less than 100 to 150 ft while at some places the ravines are miles deep. Besides, one dies on the day one is supposed to die so it doesn't matter if you are sitting in an armored vehicle or a bicycle.
