PAF Deploys to Northern Territories

The issue of F-16 & Vipers not coming have more to do with geopolitics rather than on finances.

not entirely true, if you can pay full cash to America you can get those F-16's .. 8 F-16's which US offered were canceled because US refused to use CSF to buy these Jets .

The cost-benefit titled against Pakistan paying for it. If I recall correctly, the sum of those 8 F-16s were in the neighborhood of 700 million dollars.

Buying on loans is not a wise idea, especially as we are already over extended in our debt to the Chinese. Couple that with the fact that J-10 brings very little incremental improvement over JF-17, it does not make sense to buy just for the sake of it. If PAF was in desperation mode, it could just start building 24-25 JF-17s locally to fill any gaps. But that is not the case, most likely because PAF is going to utilize the airframe life that is left in the F-7s, Mirages and T-37s etc, and go for newer aircraft as they are needed. Remember, a penny saved is a penny earned, and in Pakistan's case, we need to be very stringent on new purchases with our forex, regardless of how we feel and want to counter IAF acquisitions.

PS I am still not over the fact that PLAAF did not buy its share of FC-1s as was intended, to bring down unit costs.

Hi,

It is not to insult you---.

At a dining table in your house---there are 8 guests---but you serve to four---on indulgence---you reply---it does not bring anything new to the table except for more food---.

Similarly---there is a massive shortage of aircraft in the air force---JF17 production cannot fulfil it---. A parallel influx of another product line will fix the problem.

So---the real issue is not bringing anything new to the table---the issue is to fill in the gap---.

Another reason J10 is not being bought---if it is inducted---there will be many that will say that is the aircraft of choice and the JF17 is a dud---after using and comparing the two aircraft.

And that is the real reason---this comes from someone very close to the top---.

FC-1 is designed for PAF totally. There are no considerations for the needs of PLAAF from the beginning.
Besides, PLAAF and PLANAF prefer big ones, and money is not the big issue to them.

Money isn’t the issue. The naval acquisitions proof that.

PAF is not even doing basic due diligence. For example, the Israelis have years been training with the Greeks to develop countermeasures against the S-300. Similarly, the Indians have long trained with the Singapore Air Force’s F-16s. PAF has never trained with the Malaysian Air Force whose Sukhios are the closest you will get to the SU-30MKI. PAF uses tired cliches and false sense of confidence. It’s fast becoming an obsolete force.

JF-17-> J-10 <-F-16.

J-10 kind of fits in between PAF's current aircrafts. Something better than F-16 should be sought, if the price is to be paid after all.

In a way its true, FMF for 18 F-16 block 52+ aside, the first shopping choice of aircraft for PAF is F-16, whether used.

It is not so much about what PLAAF needs but what they contracted with PAF. WE had a contract that the Chinese wiĺl buy 150 units and we will buy 150 units. They reneged on that. This is what my friend laments about. However the success of the JFT outweighs the disadvantage of the Chinese not buying them. They obviously had a change of heart but this does not mean that they did not make the contract.

If we buy f22 people will say j10 is dud too...
Everyone knows j10 is better than jf17
Does it bring local manufacturing, freedom of weapon integration, cost?..

So then why hasn't the PAF bought them yet or are there still plans for them to come to PAF ?
