PAF contingent leaves for China

The worst part is PAF is still dreaming about fancy planes from 1970s which would be good opportunity for grandpa, PAF are very behind the schedules, look at Saudi's Green Flag exercises with latest four Typhoon included from Squadron 3 in UK.
:disagree:

Bah, don't worry much bro, the PAF have been flying the Tornados and the F-15s for a long time. So I wouldn't really see they're far left behind ;) ..

Jab paisa na hoon or upper sa cheezen be bheak mang mang ker millan to phir aisa he hota ha. PAF always knew the limitations for going for more F-16s, yet they choose to anyways. i don't understand why is JF-17 not being used. It does not make sense. What better way to check JF-17 than against the chinese with their SU-30 and J-10s. Here JF-17 could be used with full potential without the fear of radar codes and what not being detected by the enemy. Strange!

we were not their to impress them but to learn how to counter monster of earth . if we want to impress them better we send film actresses there .

if they got impressed that doesn't mean we were just to impress them....even if we were to impress them....it wasn't an easy job...

Same old fart planes, it wouldn't benefit anything without latest JF-17 and F-16 Block 52 which would be honor to exercise first-ever with China.

Not really, even old planes can be capable dog fighters. This is just to help gain experience for both air forces, and a show of friendly and growing ambitions of China with the help of Pakistan. If these air exercises were serious, then they would have brought some of the more advanced platforms like the JF-17.

F-16 would be a no go, as the US would object.

yes only dog fighter while we want modern BVR- ELECTRONIC war- tactical missions . these uran khatolays are waste of money . seriously who the hell is using them in war these days ? uganda somalia ?

Most air exercises concentrate on air to air dog fighting exercises too, so BVR isn't necessary. I'd also like to mention that these are being replaced, but slowly. Pakistan doesn't have the money to buy a ton of JF-17s to replace them all, so it will take some time.

For any Air Force Strategy and Tactics plays a much important role than what common people understand, without them no air force can fully utilize the true potential of their available resources. With time and development of new hardware's and software's in aircraft industry the strategy too changes, so its important to remain updated, whats better than to have air exercises with as many countries as possible. Pilots of Mirage and F-7 are the one who will fly JF-17 in near future, so its good move.

1. JF-17 is relatively new platform, PAF still needs time to rectify minor and major problems which is faced by all air force during operationalization of new platform, so not before PAF themself learn about true potential and limitation of this aircraft. My guess not before 5 years.

2. F-16 Block 52, you forgot its made in USA, you like it or not you need their permission even in order to use them in your own airspace during air exercises with any foreign country except US Air Force.

Absolutely false. PAF didn't spend 5 billion USD on planes that it can't fly. There are restrictions on who has access to their technology other than Pakistan and USA and that is a fair point. But Pakistan can use them as and when it pleases. Since you are an Indian Poster you wouldn't want to believe that and rather believe the BS that somehow PAF can't use them against India or something.

Seriously, get a life.

On behalf of certain members PAF has grounded F-7s and Non ROSE Mirages and inducted uran tastari.

Pakistan can use the F-16s as permitted by a valid flightplan loaded onto the plane via DTC control.

WASTE waste waste without falcons and thunders

Bhai saheb.why are you so angry these days. Lets face it till 2020 you will still have to face your arch enemy in these very planes. So what better opportunity than to test the water with planes you will have to defend your motherland against planes like the SU series and see where we really stand. Isnt this what they call DACT?.Avail the opportunity before you may have to go in for the real thing.Otherwise loosen your belt and prepare to fork out billions in a race you will never win.

Which in most cases would be what the PAF would actually want. Think about, the F-16s are there to fight the IAF. Simple. We don't need them to fight air to air battles with taliban or Afghan Airforce or Iran Airforce.

Indians here repeatedly imply that because the USA placed restrictions, somehow the super dooper India was able to convince the USA to not allow PAF to fly F-16s against them. This is all false and has been discussed to death on the F-16 threads. When a new member brings in this kind of non-sense, it simple makes me go insane.

Now back to topic,

I don't see the fuss in PAF taking F-7s and Mirage. After all they are part of the active fleet as well. PAF regularly flies it's F-16s with other airforces, so pilots across the fleet get necessary DACT experience.
