Yes, it's still using the licensed Signaal LW08.

Im not sure why, because P-17s are using EL/M-2238s.

Short range SAMS, but can engage very short distances.

IMO, Kolkata's Chinese counterpart Type 052D looks cleaner. What do you think?

Not particularly. I don't know much about the 052D but what are the specs on the sensors/radars? They seem to be pretty lacking when compared to their contemporaries including the P-15A.

P-15B likely won't be commissioned till 2020 or later. Its rival will be Type 055. Type 052D has very advanced AESA radars, 4 arrays on the bridge covering 360 degrees, another radar on top of the bridge, another radar on a tower, advanced state of the art sonar, a rear radar with yagi antenna. Overall, Type 052D is state of the art in terms of design and technology, comparable to Arleigh Burke Flight III.

Go search in the Chinese section the 052D thread, you can get all you want. Not to offend, P15A is way behind 052D. It looks more like an mix hot pot.

I think P15A could only be compared with PLA navy's 052B.
