My mamoo was also staunchly secular though he was not as sympathetic to pakistan as my grand father. No muslim left there could be more loyal to pakistan than my grandfather. Even my uncle admitted though that there once used to be bets on Pakistan winning in cricket matches and muslims cheering for Pakistan. I think the real failure here is with us migrants who failed to integrate all these people and let them fall in the Indian sphere of influence. He is the only leader in india right now who have my deepest respect.First of all he is a secular one and secondly he got guts to talk against hindutva terrorism despite being part of a minority.
We should always have treated the muslims left in Indian occupied parts as a part and parcel of Pakistan. I feel sorry for them now actually. Neither could they be Indians (rather are a marginalized minority with no real rights) nor could they be Pakistani because we didn't treat them as such. Heck we migrants even began to question their muslimness.
In a war these people would be an asset and can break India from within. If I stayed there rather than move then even I would have full sympathy for freedom seekers and would help the cause. As some say, an Indian muslim is no muslim I was told by a person from Hyderabad. Luckily some muslims are rising up against Indian tyranny. Owaisi is supported even by freedom seekers.
