BTW, there's no specific mention of PAA being applied to civilians, rioters etc. from any official channel. Even the ISPR release did not mention this specifically even though the title of the thread/quoted article does:
The Forum expressed firm resolve that those involved in these heinous crimes against the military installations and personal/ equipment will be brought to justice through trials under relevant laws of Pakistan including Pakistan Army Act and Official Secret Act.
Army act doesn't apply to civilians. Read 21-D of the act. Further constitution point 10 also forbids.RAWALPINDI: The military's top leadership has vowed to take strict action against protesters and their abettors under local laws — including the Pakistan Army Act and the Official Secrets Act — following Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers' violent protests in which military installations were attacked.
The decision came during a Special Corps Commanders Conference (CCC) held at the General Headquarters with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir in the chair, according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The violent protests were triggered after PTI Chairman Imran Khan was sent to jail in the Al-Qadir Trust case, but after walking free on bail, the party chief said his workers did not instigate violence and distanced the PTI from them.
Following the arrest of Khan, who has criticised the military since his ouster in April last year, the PTI workers raised the stakes and attacked an entrance gate of the GHQ among other installations of the armed forces.

So while I understand the rationale being used, had this been PTI's rule and PDM had resorted to riots, I believe IK's government would have gone after the arsonists/rioters as well.
There is no 21-D in the act and Army act has been applied to civilians umpteen times in the past.Army act doesn't apply to civilians. Read 21-D of the act. Further constitution point 10 also forbids.
Totally agree. The US military is professional force + conscription recruit during large wars like WWII. There is no question of civilian supremacy as many Presidents, Senators, Congress members have served in the military. Furthermore the Chief of Army Staff has no operational control of the army and serves as an advisor. The President is the Commander in Chief.Pakistani nation must learn from everything that has happened.
We need to get rid of this bloated 700000 sized standing army. Bring a mandatory national service every man of 18 serves 3 years. The permanent military should only including officers, specialist, special forces and a smaller standing force. This would cut these megalomaniacs to their true aukat. Right now they are raping the entire country because they know they have 700000 soldiers who will dance to their tunes.
ISI must goes to Civilians or the very least should be rotated between Airforce and Navy. Ground forces officers must be banned from holding any significant position within ISI. This way we will have an independent organization not subservient to the whishes of army commanders.
Remove all decronion colonial Era Laws. Like section 144, army act and official secret act.
Had their been no Officials secrets act we would have never been in this position. They hide all their ill gotton wealth and crimes behind this act.
Full constitutional protection for the right to bear arms and self defence of life property and family against unlawful invasion of privacy even by enforcement with out any legal warrant.
Our Generals are the biggest Munafiqs this land has even seen. These Company traitors still leave no chance to suck up to their former imperial masters.
