A Syrian Mig-21F piloted by then Sqn Ldr Sattar Alvi of PAF

, shot down a Israeli Mirage-IIICJ “ Shahak ” that belonged to notorious No.117 Sqn of the Israeli air force.

Pilot Cpt M.Lutz had ejected, but scummed to his injuries.

Squadron Leader Abdul Hameed Qadri poses in front of horizontal stabilizer(?) of one of the DRAAF Su-22s he shot down on 17th May 1988, over Parachinar.

One of the Su-22s was shot down using AIM-9L while other fell prey to M61A1 Vulcan cannon fire. Wingman was S/L Yousaf (later AM). Radar controller was late F/O Arshad. Qadri was awarded Sitar-e-Basalat. Unfortunately, we lost Qadri when he was Air Commodore commanding Minhas AFB in F-7P crash. Subsequently PAF satellite airfield in Skardu was renamed after him.
