i somehow belive the theory that Osama is alive and is under captivity with US....makes a lot of sense....No picture released ,I can understand....but why thehell was he buried so fast ?? i mean within hours of kiling him ?? really fishy
Obama insisted on following Muslim ritual as closely as possible. That was interpreted as same-day burial. Since the family didn't want him Osama's fate was to be fish food.

I reckon we need to accept our failure.

The curious case of Osama bin Laden – The Express Tribune

Osama bin Laden, the figurehead king of al Qaeda, is gone. His hosts are still rubbing their eyes and wondering how it all happened. Although scooped up from Pakistani soil, shot in the head and then buried at sea, the event was not announced by General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani or by President Asif Ali Zardari. Instead, it was the president of the United States of America who told the world that bin Laden’s body was in the custody of US forces.

Suggestions that Pakistan played a significant role ring hollow. President Obama, in his televised speech on May 1, said “our counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan helped lead us to bin Laden”. But no sooner had he stopped speaking that his top national security aides declared that the United States had not told Pakistani leaders about the raid ahead of time. Significantly, Obama did not thank Pakistan. An American official pointedly declared that the information leading to bin Laden’s killing was shared “with no other country” and this top secret operation was such that “only a very small group of people inside our own government knew of this operation in advance”.

Today, Pakistan’s embarrassment is deep. On numerous occasions, our military and civilian leaders had emphatically stated that bin Laden was not in Pakistan. Some suggested that he might be in Sudan or Somalia. Others hinted that he might already have died from a kidney ailment, or perhaps that he was in some intractable area, protected by nature and terrain and thus outside the effective control of the Pakistani state.

But then it turned out bin Laden was not hiding in some dark mountain cave in Waziristan. Instead, probably for at least some years, he had lived comfortably smack inside the modern, peaceful, and extraordinarily secure city of Abbottabad. Using Google Earth, one sees that the deceased was within easy walking distance of the famed Pakistan Military Academy at Kakul. It is here where General Kayani had declared on April 23 that “the terrorist’s backbone has been broken and inshallah we will soon prevail”. Kayani has released no statement after the killing.

Still more intriguing are pictures and descriptions of bin Laden’s fortress house. Custom-designed, it was constructed on a plot of land roughly eight times larger than the other homes in the area. Television images show that it has high walls, barbed wire and two security gates. Who approved the construction and paid for it? Why was it allowed to be away from the prying eyes of the secret agencies?

Even the famous and ferocious General Hamid Gul (retd) — a bin Laden sympathiser who advocates war with America — cannot buy into the claim that the military was unaware of bin Laden’s whereabouts. In a recorded interview, he remarked that bin Laden being in Abbottabad unknown to authorities “is a bit amazing”. Aside from the military, he said “there is the local police, the Intelligence Bureau, the Military Intelligence, the ISI — they all had a presence there”. Pakistanis familiar with the intrusive nature of the multiple intelligence agencies will surely agree; to sniff out foreigners is a pushover.

So why was bin Laden sheltered in the army’s backyard? General Pervez Musharraf, who was army chief when bin Laden’s house in Abbottabad was being constructed in 2005, unwittingly gives us the clearest and most cogent explanation. The back cover of his celebrated book, In The Line Of Fire, written in 2006, reads:

“Since shortly after 9/11 — when many al Qaeda leaders fled Afghanistan and crossed the border into Pakistan — we have played multiple games of cat and mouse with them. The biggest of them all, Osama bin Laden, is still at large at the time of this writing but we have caught many, many others. We have captured 672 and handed over 369 to the United States. We have earned bounties totalling millions of dollars. Here, I will tell the story of just a few of the most significant manhunts”.

So, at the end of the day, it was precisely that: A cat and mouse game. Bin Laden was the ‘Golden Goose’ that the army had kept under its watch but which, to its chagrin, has now been stolen from under its nose. Until then, the thinking had been to trade in the Goose at the right time for the right price, either in the form of dollars or political concessions. While bin Laden in virtual captivity had little operational value for al Qaeda, he still had enormous iconic value for the Americans. It was therefore expected that kudos would come just as in the case of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the Kuwaiti-born senior al Qaeda leader who was arrested in Rawalpindi, or Mullah Baradar, the Taliban leader arrested from Karachi.

Events, however, have turned a potential asset into a serious liability. Osama’s killing is now a bone stuck in the throat of Pakistan’s establishment that can neither be swallowed nor spat out. To appear joyful would infuriate the Islamists who are already fighting the state. On the other hand, to deprecate the killing would suggest that Pakistan had knowingly hosted the king of terrorists.

Now, with bin Laden gone, the military has two remaining major strategic assets: America’s weakness in Afghanistan and Pakistan’s nuclear weapons. But moving these chess pieces around will not assure the peace and prosperity that we so desperately need. They will not solve our electricity or water crises, move us out of dire economic straits, or protect us from suicide bombers.

Bin Laden’s death should be regarded as a transformational moment by Pakistan and its military. It is time to dispense with the Musharraf-era cat and mouse games. We must repudiate the current policy of verbally condemning jihadism — and actually fighting it in some places — but secretly supporting it in other places. Until the establishment firmly resolves that it shall not support armed and violent non-state actors of any persuasion — including the Lashkar-e-Taiba — Pakistan will remain in interminable conflict both with itself and with the world.

On the contrary it is very broad statement..It could very well means if Pakistan wasn't a part WOT ..we would have never found Osama..who was hiding in Pakistan"..but what is specific is statement from CIA chief Leon Panetta..saying BBC News - Bin Laden: CIA head Leon Panetta feared Pakistan leaks.

It clearly wasn't a generic statement.

It mentions the compound.

Fearing a leak has nothing to do with the intelligence part. That's to do with the actual operation.

.
If you could read, you'd understand the difference between a joint operation and providing the crucial intelligence for that joint operation.

I'm not denying that Pakistan was of no help in locating OBL, if you read my initial post, I have stated that Obama said that Pak's help was crucial in WOT and helping to find OBL. What I am saying is, and what most of the media and higher ups are suggesting, is that Pakistan was kept in the dark about this operation. Although I must say that I find it extremely confusing and concerning as to how US was able to achieve such a high level of success and secrecy so deep within Pakistan's territory without Pakistan knowing. But the media and higher up's seems to suggest that this is what happened.

.
I'm not going through every single news article [MOD EDIT]

It is obvious the media, or large segments of the Indian and western media do want to play down Pakistan's role in this.

But Obama has made specific mention of it. It's quite clear.

The only part Pakistan may not have been privvy to was the attack. Though I doubt that also, since Pakistani helis were present.

So you are already in a self denial mode.
Your ISI and government supported U.S so much that they didn't even think of informing you of their operation. They come like king, breaking your sovereignity, crushing your self respect, jamming your radars, attacks and take away Osama. They even dont bother to fulfill legal process to take away someone from Pakistan.
What if there intelligence was wrong and they kill your innocent citizens again? Actually they dont care of any pakistani lives because they know they can pay for that later.
Stop patting your back and try to see the reality.

Obama insisted on following Muslim ritual as closely as possible. That was interpreted as same-day burial. Since the family didn't want him Osama's fate was to be fish food.

Since when did Americans (who have been killing, raping, torturing Muslims for the past 10 years), respect Islamic values and traditions?

.
The only response that we can gauge from Pakistani government is "Please don't give us any credit for this, for the love of God don't associate us with this", I wonder why surely they can't be THAT afraid of a few militant threats? Obama and Hillary are like "No no, Pakistanis aren't bad they did help us in some ways".

Only thing that makes sense to me is that whatever is going on, the administrations on both ends are in on it. The US guys are better at covering all of their bases, Pakistanis have decided to stay silent since they know whatever they say now can be disproven in the extremely fluid situation.

.
I hate to repeat this but I would just because they took our website down for saying so initially, apparently both the higher ups in Washington and Islamabad knew where he was and which rogue elements of the Pak establishment were allowed to keep him where he was for quite some time now with mutual consent of DC and Isloo. Killing of Osama was just like pulling the rabbit out at an opportune time. Eyewitnesses described the convergence of "thousands of commandos", obviously they can't be American and gunships can't fly into Pakistan from Afghanistan. Eyewitnesses are even reporting PA chopper providing escort support to US choppers.

There is no defence on either side. Why is everyone in Pakistan silent and why is Obama and Hillary combo more hell bent on defending Pakistan than say Zardari or Kayani? Our site may have been taken down for merely speculating in our news section about the joint operation, but their drastic action on taking the site down will only raise more questions.

We have a saying in Pakistan "daal main kuch kaala hai" (loosely: there is something wrong with this dish). I whole heartedly support a rigorous investigation in Pakistan to find out who supported the man and no scapegoating of low level officers this time please.

I am deeply sad of the thing you just disclosed

Once ISI admits that there are loop holes in it they will get a licence and easily use this argument to say that ISI is not capable of protecting the nuclear assets aswell and therefore you know what....

crap !!! same day burial doesnt mean same hour burial. there is no rule in Islam that you cant take even picture of the dead body...are you telling me the man whom US searched for more than 10 years buried him within hours of killing him ??

.
Rachel maddow being the same idiot who called the F-22 a failure compared to the F-35.. and useless..
Great sources for an argument.

somewhere I hear puff daddy rapping away "all about the benjamins".. with benjamins being replaced by nukes at random intervals.

Trying to smoke screen and discredit the anchor does not change the facts stated in a news item in NBC

.
so,now the US special forces are operating at a distance of one hour from the Pakistani capital....

It is odd that the Americans, or Obama, are saying that Pakistan helped lead them to the compound.

Whereas the military and civilian leadership is keeping quiet about it.

.
...IF the ISI knew Osama was in that house, you would think that they would then scramble like hell if some sort of live action started to occur there.
Disagree. OBL was a cash-cow for a Pakistan with an economy and tax-collection system too weak to support its military: as long as the WoT endures, U.S. money flowed, so the ISI wanted OBL alive.

I think the secret to this raid was that Obama ordered it even though he wasn't sure OBL was there. If Obama had been sure, Pakistani counterintelligence would have known this and alerted OBL to move to another location.

Such daring from this U.S. president was something nobody ever suspected.

The ever-deceitful ISI has met its match in the steely-eyed poker-faced President Barrack Obama. Don't even think of playing cards with him.
