Special Group
The Director General (DG) Security, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) in 1982 dispatched 500 SFF operatives along with over 500 Indian Army special forces to Sarasawa for Counter Terrorist training. It is also thought that the selected troopers thereafter were sent to Israel for highly specialized training. These men formed the nucleus of an ultra-elite and highly classified new detachment, known as the Special Group.
The SFF Special Group is structured like the Special Air Service (SAS) Regiment, its headquarters supported by an Intelligence and Planning wing, a Training wing and a specialist Signals Troop which is solely responsible for support operations. Having four squadrons each made up of around 100 troopers, which are further divided into four troops. Each troop has a specialized role. The Special Group has a wide range of responsibilities, each requiring specific training and disciplines.Special Group is also the parent unit of elite National Security Guards(NSG). It is a volunteer force and persons are inducted only after a very tough probation and selection process.

Tiruchirappalli, Mar 18 (PTI) The Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli (OFT) here is to come out with ''Trichy Assault Rifle'', which would be of the standard of AK-47 range of weapons, a top official claimed today.
The rifle would be christened as Trichy Assault Rifle, Prabhakar said. "Our customers both in army and para military forces have accepted (it) for trial runs and it is 7.62mm calibre with about 400 metre range. It is fitted with night vision, telescopic view, foldable butt and it is totally an output of Research and Development of OFT in this city", he said.

Bakwaas....The army will nebver induct it. They will say now INSAS is a better rifle than this one.....

awesome looking gun like m4. TAR assault rifle, hope army inducts it. we can also replace our INSAS with this for para and central forces.

Looks like an INSAS in 7.62x39mm.They've used the same iron sights and upper receiver of the INSAS.Nice none the less.

Nope IA not yet accepted it for ops ..they jus accepted it for trails.

yup!!...looks like a cross between INSAS N M4 with an AK magazine. I hope the accuracy is not like an AK.

they need to hire guys from NIFT to give these weapons a killer look. Look at INSAS, I cant comprehend why did they go for that color
