Open Discussion : Bangladesh And Myanmar Armed Force

Okay, now some serious questions! :drag:

*Bullet Proof Ballistic Helmet = 12,000/- taka

Ok.

*Hand to Hand communicator set = 45,000/- taka

What is that communicator? Doesn't seem to be sat phone, then walkie-talkie? That costly?

*Night Vision Devise, NVG(II) = 180,000/- taka

Ok.

*Global Positioning System or GPS(ডান হাতে মিনি স্ক্রিন মনিটর) = 168,000/- taka

168,000/- taka!!! Nowadays even a 3000 taka phone flaunts GPS! Okay, army's GPS is super-advanced, but 168,000/- taka??

*Kevler Bullet Proof vest = 188,000/- taka

Ok.

*New BD-08 Mark II assault rifle = 32,000/- taka

My god! The cheapest thing so far, and its the most important thing in any war!
Btw, how come the assault rifle is so cheap? 32,000/- Bangladeshi taka is like USD 411......!!!

*4x optical ACOG sight = 40,000/- taka

Damn! Sight is costlier than the gun!!

*Eye Protective Gear = 6,000/- taka

Ok.

*Side Weapon = 25,000/- taka.

Cheap, very cheap!

So, 700000 taka Gadget for one soldier.

Out of 700,000/- taka gear, only 65,000/- taka is for the guns!! :hitwall:

Average price for an AK 47 around the world is 500 bucks(Manufacturing cost+profit)(a huge amount of them are either Chinese or Eastern European)....BD08 has comparable technology...almost same materials....and built in a country with the cheapest labor in the world...by a state owned factory...for a state owned military....for 0 profit!

I don't think so nyi lay. We need to move away from stamping out ethnic rebellions and strengthening our conventional forces. Unfortunately I don't think we can reduce our defence budget. Geo-politics is such that a strong and competent conventional force is a necessity particularly in the turbulent region we are in and especially with those bengalis next door.
Fear mongering....Bengalis pose 0 threat to Myanmar! You can keep building your armed forces stronger and stronger ignoring your infrastructure...but it is quite pointless....Look at DPRK...Japan poses no threat to DPRK anymore...but they still perceive Japan as a threat and continues their military first policy!

Not.. bro @alaungphaya just told his perception on the fact why our defence budget will not be reduced for a while, not for forever.. it does not mean we will completely ignore infrastructure and national wide developments..our gov will go on in his plan any way.. and also understand this is not war time.. However, we should/must has awareness what our neigbour do.. whatever a threat or not.. take an example of Philipine in South China Sea problem.. After taking a few year (just a very few year) :D we can fillfull 80% of our military need by local DI..or certain step what we need.. then a happy time.. :D

greater stuffs with lower cost.. then will be invest a development plan...

1.WS-22 will be assembled..? sound great.. hope to become like that..
2.Fire power for battle and close combat.. Just compare the same class and same role.. we also has Local assembled BTR3Us , MT-LB and Chinese Type 90 and Type 85 in the same role of ur APC... But now we make an intensive focus on Local mades and upgrade to current ones rather than buying new ones..
3.Ok.. let's see in ur next Victory day.. :D

great for BD... Congratz.. :D

You are talking about Igla S of AD Arty and Infantry.
I am talking about naval version.
Igla 1A SAM-N is naval version and fitted with optical tracker and integrated generator. You can see it in the photos.
With this optical tracker, range increases up to 6.5 km in naval version Igla 1A SAM-N.

Myanmar announces 2015 budget of USD2.5 billion
Jon Grevatt, Bangkok - IHS Jane's Defence Industry
27 January 2015
Myanmar's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has proposed a 2015 defence budget of MMK2.61 trillion (USD2.5 billion), according to reports in the country on 28 January. The figure represents a year-on-year nominal increase of 10% and approximately 3.7% of national GDP.

In presenting the defence budget to parliament, defence minister Lieutenant General Wai Lwin said the expenditure will be directed at supporting operational expenses, procurement, salaries, constructing and maintaining military facilities, and providing education and training to military personnel.

Reports said Lt Gen Wai Lwin also noted a potential further increase to the defence budget if a separate proposal to provide the military with a pay increase is approved by Myanmar's parliament before implementation at the beginning of the financial year in April.
