Not really.
Bismark who united various Germanic states into one,I don't see that Germany is today a failed state.
Pakistan and Afghanistan are actually one countries ,almost a synonym abroad plagued by terrorism (In fighting) corruption and instability.
The regular Afghan's which I met are amazing people apart from the Pak-afghan elites,extremely resilient (Just like Pakistanis) highly spirited and noble folks.
All our current day popular journalists like Najam sethi etc actually studied in Afghanistan back in the 60s, So It wasn't all that bad prior to the soviets.
It is the proxies which destroyed Afghanistan and it's effect will be constant in case of Pakistan.
We need to soften our western borders and a long term policy needs to be initiated,Trust me Pakistan already needs more land mass since we already have the 5th biggest population of the planet.

I don't think the divides between Pakistanis and Afghanis is too much. We tend to get carried away in rhetoric because of the current events. But who knows what will happen in, say, 2030? 2040? Look at Europe now? Hadn't they slaughtermeach other for hundreds of years? Their casualties and destruction in the two World Wars in the 20th century alone would be far more than what the India vs Pakistan or all Afghan/Pakistan and regional wars combined.

We should hope that Afghanis unite and become friends of Pakistan. There is less population in Afghanistan than Pakistan but a lot of land. It's not all desert there. Free movement of people and trade. Peace Dividends. Same with India and Pakistan.

Let's struggle against each other now while required to. But lets not make permanent enemies. You can't change your neighbors.

the ground reality is Afghanistan belongs to the war lords and for decades these war lords and their families have ruled the country like wild west. USAF and trillions of dollars couldnt even give you peace.

afghans don't want to get divided.
US will have to get out and give any one party to take control of whole Afghanistan and bring peace.
if with US help one side is just fighting for survival so with US absence it will be over in no time.
