What's new

One of Pakistan's best, Moin Akhtar, passes away

A self made man. Moin was THE best actor of all times. He was one of those actors who were comedians but not chichoras. i dont know if i can combine maturity with comedy but he was a mature comedian.

i dont know why but when Babbu died a few days back and before him Mastana left us, the first question i asked a friend was if Moin is still alive, and i was glad to know that he was. Alas, the joy was short lived!

You'll be missed for times to come Moin.

Inna Lillahe was Inna Elehe Rajioon.

Inna lillahe wa ina Ellahe rajiun.

A tragic loss for the nation.
Moin made all of us smile and laugh from the core of our being, the sheer versatility of this man was amazing to behold over the decades that he performed for all of us
Such talent is not born every century and to know that he was from our nation is a fact we should be proud of.

I agree that the passing of so many artists in one month is indeed something i have never seen/heard of before.
Sad time for us.

Inalillah-e-waina Elaih-e-Rajeun. May Allah keep this guy smiling after life just the way he kept millions of hearts smiling always.

May Allah forgive his sins and count him among Saliheen. Aamin.

Man....what a sad day for the country....a legend is lost.

RIP.

We watched his lots lots of comedy shows, dramas etc . . . that time. I mean we knowing him since that time.
I just got tears in my eyes after heard this terrible news that Moin Akthar is passes away. What a tragedy for Pakistan.

Its a big loss for Pakistan. Nobody will take his place after him.

Moin Akhtar (1950-2011)

April 22 was the day laughter died. Moin Akhtar, one of the most beloved comics and actors ever to grace the stage and television screens of Pakistan, passed away at the age of 60. It is nearly impossible to do justice to his versatility. Be it through satire or mimicry, slapstick or song, Moin Akhtar had a comedic range that will surely never be matched in Pakistan. He was awarded both the Sitara-i-Imtiaz and the Pride of Performance by the government, but the true measure of his genius will be shown by the emptiness we all feel at the news of his passing.

Moin Akhtar made his debut at the young age of 16, wowing audiences with his stand-up comedy on a variety show on state-owned television. For the next 40 years, he never stopped making us laugh. It is impossible to list the sheer number of memorable performances he delighted us with but among the highlights were TV shows Bandar Road se Keamari, Eid Train and of course Rosie, where he did the Pakistani version of Dustin Hoffman’s Tootsie. Apart from his acting, which encompassed television, movie and theatre, Akhtar was renowned for his impersonations. From Waheed Murad to Dilip Kumar, he had a knack for mimicking the celebrities of our time, although he played it strictly for laughs with nary a hint of malice. It is a testament to his genius that no matter what character he played, whether in drag or playing off stereotypes, he remained gracious and charming, never resorting to vulgarity or cheap laughs.

Despite being the consummate showman, Moin Akhtar never hogged the limelight. In fact, one his greatest assets was that he brought out the best in those around him. Few will forget his partnership with Anwar Maqsood and Bushra Ansari on the sketch comedy show Studio 2½, and his later interview show Loose Talk with Maqsood. His work with Umer Sharif on stage shows like Buddha Ghar Pe Hai and Bakra Qiston Pay was so legendary that it has become a staple fare to watch even now.

To Allah SWT we belong and to HIM we shall return.

What else could be said about a Genius who could speak 7 languages fluently including Chinese.

Rest in Peace and may Allah SWT give patience to his family and friends.

Im still shocked about this. "The" Moin Akhtar has passed away. This man was just too big and young too die. I blame the media for not making us aware of his declining health recently.
I saw him in my uncle's nephews birthday party like ten years ago. He was a truly a gem.
I guess it's true what they say about celebrity deaths come in threes.
The whole nation is currently mourning. RIP Moin Akhtar, you will be missed :cry::cry:.

Inalillah-e-waina Elaih-e-Rajeun
