One in Three Iranians Live Below the Poverty Line

@Hamartia Antidote
Don't let Iranian members post realities about poverty in USA.

Well it's funny you should say that...because that situation is already occurring...and that's why I'm now over here posting Iranian realities...

Funny how we think alike isn't it... :enjoy:

Can you delete your new troll threads in the Americas forum now that I have pointed the past Iranian troll posts.

If you leave them up other people are going to start flooding this forum with flame threads all because of the Piotr's actions.

I will then delete this thread.

Wait i can't too late. I can ask the mods to delete it.

It depends on your definition of poverty. A lot of Pakistan is made up of self sufficient villages who grow their own food and don't have much need for money. They have hard lives but I wouldn't count them as in poverty since they are not starving.

Umh no this is not how modern world works
The definition of poverty line pretty much depends on how you define the basket of necessary goods and services that a person must be able to afford.
You can define it in a way that even 90% of Qatar goes below the poverty line. So, when someone says 30% of people live below the poverty line, they should explain what they mean by that. Is access to broadband internet a factor, for example? Because a lot of people can disagree on how this basket should be defined.

However, as far as the UN is concerned, there are three levels of poverty:
1- A purchase power parity below $1.9 per day. In this case, population living below the poverty line is 0.5% in Iran
2- A purchase power parity below $3.2 per day. In this case, population living below the poverty line is 2.5% in Iran
3- A purchase power parity below $5.5 per day. In this case, population living below the poverty line is 13% in Iran

Any number except these numbers is the fantasy of people who make up statistics. Even these numbers are not hard truths either.
Use this standard for determining poverty
