ESSM can be launched from various types of launchers and there is also a cheaper version then MK-41 launcher which US also use.

So, ESSM cant be launched from MK48, like, at all. If PN wanted ESSM's on the low, yea, they could go for MK29 i guess, would not make much sense though cost wise i think, could have stuck with SM-1 or mod them for SM-2 like others.

US even didn't allow ESSMs 50km range SAMs for that ship although we can put Aster15/30 or any other available SAM from west or South Africa.

I still believe had we gotten 5 ships and upgraded them it would have helped us a long way but its now a done story

This ship can be converted to Ship-borne Early Warning System by looking at its size.
It will cost a lot, but if considering requirements, would be a potent asset.

or, it can be converted into Training ship, which we lack at this moment.

We had many bitter experiences with US weapon supply. Now time to consider other option for future and learn from past .

Perry Class Alamgir was not free, we paid for retrofit cost. I think it was more than $70 Million.
However, considering PN size, it adds some punch to its defence.
