But the chopper used in the operations were stealthy ones and were feom Black hawk DNA.
Stealthy does not mean undetectable or unshootable.

Amazing article about special operations Chinook pilot Chief Warrant Officer 5 Douglas Englen .
Let no apologists for the PAF and the military rulers of Pakistan claim that the US and Pakistan worked together and that permission was given for this operation.
4 helicopters flew well inside Pakistan. 2 landed in a refueling point and were there for 2 hours +. Two more choppers flew in to Abbottabad. Killed Osama. One crashed. The refueling chopper flew into Abbottabad . They flew back to the refueling point!!!
And then 3 choppers flew back to AFG.
So many shocking details in this article, please take the time and read.
So hopefully this puts the PAF's unsuccessful role in this Abbottabad operation crystal clear to fanbois.
Meanwhile, Englen’s lone Chinook on its way back was engaged three times by a Pakistani F-16. Because he’d anticipated and planned for that, he was able to defeat and evade the fighter jet.
“It was as an electronic fight. A missile never left the rail. So I was able to evade him electronically. That’s all I’ll say. But, he was searching and hunting for me, and three times came very close to actually launching a missile,” Englen said.
He'd done that before with other fighter jets on other missions.
"That's why we were picked for this mission. And, I was one of the few who trained 160th crews how to do that," he added.
Regardless, they were still jinking and jiving, flying nap-of-the-earth.
"We pulled every technique and tactic out of the book. And it worked," he said.
The risk was different, depending on who you asked.

Leak was within army ranks. Zardari was not even allowed to visit GHQ.

Imagine PAF get alert , the moment Indian plane reach 40 miles border radius. Obviously, path was cleared by someone. Living in Kakul area and not knowing by army, hard to digest. But, it is Pak-US joint operation. Seems Pak wanted US to take out Osama to close this chapter forever. Before Osama presence create some huge problem for Pakistan.
May be those F16 escorted the helicopter. So, do there job in agreed flight path and leave.
Here is my take.Amazing article about special operations Chinook pilot Chief Warrant Officer 5 Douglas Englen .

From PAF’s perspective, this story checks out. But even had there not have been any F-18s, the choppers still we’re not have been engaged. It’s like you said these matters were decided above all of our collective pay grades, that includes above the ‘pay grade’ of Asif Zardari for a time. Eventually someone who was in the loop will spill the real story in a book or something. With USN F/A-18 Super Hornets lurking alongside the Afghan border, Rao Qamar Suleman barred the F-16s to engage with the choppers. Two F-16A's were on CAP at that time.
This fool thinks the F-16 couldn't engage his slow moving rotor aircraft. These matters were decided way above the pay grade of this idiot and he thinks he survived because he was. clever. Sounds like Minti Agerwal 1.0
However, Unfortunately, this will remain a leadership crisis of Asif Ali Zardari, which spurred down to the Rao Qamar Suleman (God knows how he climbed the ranks). Obama had to win and this had to be done.
If anyone thinks these Chinooks are capable enough to evade gun sights of fighters, then he or she needs to go back to the drawing board of learning basics about air combat.

So called 'Analyst'. Before measuring the thickness of my cranium, please take the effort to read the article.
Those words are not mine! These words are of the Pilot in Command of the chopper operation into Abbottabad.
And what is this BS about F-16 not getting clearance ? Just made up something or can you back it up with sources?
And where did India come in the picture ? Are you so obsessed !?
US can't never thank enough Asif Ali Zardari.
It was simply Ghadari not letting PAF initiate any attacks and letting the foreigners invade our land. We lost any respect we had left infront of world at that. Shameful moments.
Oh, yes --- a pilot serving on one side of a covert mission is definitely to be believed. Excellent.
The only real account --- or at least closest to reality --- is from Seymour Hersh, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist. I suggest you read that if you're so interested in Pakistan's territorial integrity.
Nope. Kayani & Pasha allowed it. They chose to overtly display incompetence and covertly cooperate. A horrible gamble for which they should be tried for treason (not that Zardari would have done any differently... he's a scumbag too.)
Do these so called kill switches only work according to ones wishes.!!!Hi,
" KILL SWITCH " young man---kill switches are real---.
You car has a kill switch which you can use anytime you want to---it is called the alarm or security system to disable your car from being started---.
Why would someone think that the world's super power would nt add one to the machines that it manufactured---.
Indian members take not---. Get any fighter aircraft from the US---they will come equipped with the kill switches---
