USA has played it really well for both cases:

1.India gets into NSG

Indo-US strategic partnership gets a boost, economic ,strategic and diplomatic ,movement on all fronts.

2.India doesn't get into NSG with Chinese opposition after USA support.

Asia Pacific alliance for SCS gets strengthened, India will get involved in SCS further strengthening the partnership & nothing changes because of the waiver ,defence relationship will expand.

Best of all, the USA got India to sign the CISMOA/LSA, which would allow American troops to operate out of Indian soil.

In exchange for the NSG seat. Except... the USA can't deliver the NSG seat. Because we have veto.

Should have thought about that first. :P They already have what they wanted, they are definitely masters of playing the game.

Well LSA is both ways ? Logistics will be their for Indian ships in US bases as wellon case 2 case basis.Do they have bases in SCS ?

All we need is a reason .:coffee:

Well, now we can see what hurts chinese here. Your each and every post is about cismoa and blah blah..

Thanks to china they are pushing india more and more towards USA, and we benefit from it. At least we get technology and goodies from USA, while from china we dont even get support for nsg.

Yeah sure. We want to make profit, you want to make profit.

If you cut off trade, then neither side makes profit. Well done.

Sorry, business and geopolitics is not about emotions. If you can't offer enough to get our support on the NSG and UNSC seat then you won't get it.

And I bet India won't cut off trade either. But I would love to be proven wrong, see if you can put your money where your mouth is for once.

No we wont cutt of trade .But we have other options .

There is nothing emotional about it .
It is always give and take policy .
And it will be good if that trade deficit narrows ASAP.

Modi has really pushed it very very hard. China is holding out due to strategic concerns. Its a power play and Wheels of change only move slowly. Rise of India is inevitable and China / Pakistan has to learn to live with it and benefit from it.

I can understand Pakistan efforts to stop India from getting into NSG. It can seriously effect the National morale. But the question is how long can you stop India from advancing ? May be a change in thinking required

Nope .. We are not asking or wishing indian to be prevented from attaining membership..

But we are pushing for an equal and fair basis of granting membership...

It was none other than USA that bitched about granting the membership only to NPT members and it's again USA that's bending backwards from its own stance to accommodate india...

China,Turkey,NZ,Brazil,Austria etc are still demanding NPT to be the only way or step for attaining the membership..

Where did we sign that agreement ?
It is still in paper like that memorandum of intent after 2008 waiver .
We know how to maintain our foreign policy.

Uh, why would it hurt us... that India gave up their sovereignty to American military bases? :P

In fact that has only hurt India before:

Nehru pleaded for US help against China in 1962 - Times of India

We just want similar payment. Why should we sit by and let India pay America THAT much, while not getting a similar payment for ourselves? Do you think we can be scammed so easily.

USA have bases all over the world.
Doesn't mean you can use them all. Most of these overseas bases are in another country which mean US cannot host India without the permission of the host country. Which is very unlikely especially in the time of war since it would risk the third country own safety.

actually even before that india had granted bases to CIA whose used spy on China with their U-2s from Himalayan bases aswell as placing a monitoring observatory on mount kailash bordering China to spy on Chinese nuclear installations and tests.

There are already mass protests by okinawans against the presence of US marines in the island calling for the displacement of the bases..For 2 reason;

US Military involved in crimes.

Danger of Foriegn invasion in case US goes to war..

Yes that's always been the case.

During the Cold War we fought multiple times directly against both the superpowers (USA + USSR) and all of their allies. We are used to it, doesn't even surprise us anymore.

All I can say is that I hope they try their best, the world is no fun without a good challenge. :enjoy:
