I used to live next to this colony in Mumbai where during festival times, these guys used to start blaring bhajans starting at 5am. If I had a rocket launcher, I would have used it on them. Same thing with Azaans. Why do you need to tell the whole world that you are praying?

Have you heard Muslim prayers five times a day i.e Nimaz being broadcast on loud speakers 7000 watts whopping sound?

Nimaz, bhajans, kirtans all are suppose to be form of worshiping are an affair carried out for personal inner satisfaction so there is NO question of broadcasting them.


Azan is call for prayer, the aim of which is inform the Muslims its prayer time. Hence it supposed to reach every Muslim loud and clear.

With passage of time and modernisation loud speakers are adopted for spreading the call.

Its more of gathering the people for community service as well in Islam.


Hinduism is NO such tradition for calling for prayer otherwise you would have seen them doing so as well.

That is what the problem is.Why should the 87% others be disturbed so that a 13 % can get up.??

Supreme court of India has very clearly said there should be no operation of loudspeaker before 6 AM.

So all these Mullahs must be jailed for sound pollution and contempt of court.

And if you say modernisation,let them use SMS for sending the prayer call without disturbing others.

The prime minister of the country is chosen by the members of parliament and not the citizens of the country directly. Frankly speaking, I don't see why they wouldn't chose a Muslim prime minister nor do I think too many people would have cared about it.

There have been Muslim Chief ministers in states like Maharashtra and Kerela. Maharashtra is the same state Shiv Sena is from.

Actually I have more faith on people than members of parliament. We have two major parties from which a Prime minister could be chosen. BJP in it's current form can't afford a Muslim prime minister. Period. Congress will always revolve around one family.

Also all the drama when Sonia was about to be the PM shows that stupid people in large number can still alter country's policy.

Even considering Sonia's non-Indian background, a question still remains, if Sonia was a non-Indian Hindu, could it be more easier for her to be PM of India?

I am against noise pollution per se. It is very annoying - Hindu processions as well as azaans. I can understand if something like this happened hundred of years ago to invite the entire village. Hearing the stupid sounds, 18 million people in Bombay are not going to start praying. Everyone needs their own space. Instead of sounding the Azaan, why not send an SMS to those who are interested to receive notification - problem solved.

Not at all. The BJP never dared to cite her religion as their objection to her candidature (regardless of their personal opinion, the people would have kicked them out if they had said that). They wanted her disqualified for her country of birth.

Hinduism doesn't require its followers to be "united" or anything of that sort. You don't have many "Hindu" forums where they cry about the plight of Hindus in other parts of the world. Some Indian forum members do that sometimes, but I am pretty sure they do it as a reaction to the never ending Pakistani crib about the "persecution" of Kashmiris and other Indian Muslims.

But on the topic: There has to be stricter enforcement of existing laws regarding all sources of noise pollution. But the Govts. have to have ba11s to do that !
