MiG29 UPG "Baaz" with significant improvements have been inducted with the numbers unclear. This UPG program is set to be completed in a few years.

And IIRC, the MiG29 UPG will also be the first in the IAF's fighter fleet to have a unified EW system.

The first of the Strike Jaguars also just completed the trials and they bring a whole new level of tech into the IAF (Elta's EL/M2052 AESA FCR, AIM132 ASRAAM and CBU105 weapons)

Sure.
But it will help others who'd prefer the details, considering how effective and deep such improvements are.
Though IAF fighter plane numbers are said to go down, the quality will improve overwhelmingly.
MiG21 M/MFs(Very short endurance, pure point defence, relatively harder to fly, near zero A2G capabilities) being replaced by Su30 MKIs (Massive range, superb Radar, fully multirole and safer)
MiG27 (Pure A2G, Single engined, troublesome spare support) with Rafales (Modern, multirole, safer)
The Jaguars are going from total A2G strike fighters that need escort to relatively self sustainable with the addition of the very expensive ASRAAM and the AESA Radar under the DARIN-III upgrade.
The MiG29's UPG program is very thorough and adds a lot of firepower.(Before they were pure A2A with negligible A2G capability but now, they are truly multirole and can use stand off weapons such as the Kh35)
The Mirage 2000 also gets a massive upgrade with the modern Radar, weapons such as the MICA, etc.

The IAF has very big gap over PAF on paper

THE 4th generation fleet is 2,50 times the number OF PAF fleet of some 150 F16/Thunders combined ,

ie for evey F16 or Thunder taken out by india,,,,,,,,,, A PAF pilots will have take down nearly 3 su30mki/mig29/mirage2000

IF the Indians/modi can avoid war by 5 years ie to 2022 based on current gurasnteed orders india will add the following fighters

36 rafakle F3
80 Tejas MK1/M1A/Navy
70 more Su30mki

FROM PAF from what I see OTHER thasn the gurantted delivery of Thunders continuing there is no giranteed signed foir delivery of any thing else between now & 2022

I KNOW you guys keep talking about J31 and J20 but this is not happeninmg and being delivered in nexty 4 or 5 years

REALISTCALLY the 18 block 52 are the table BUT you guys need to find the funds and improve your bi latral relationship with the TRUMP gobt.

IF you order anew platform be it SU35 OR J10 its a new platform and this will take time to negotiate agree build and training and support infrastructure will go well past 2022.
