We don't care, Maldives will disappear under the waves in 30 years anyways.
until then you won't be able to negotiate with them. They won't just disappear out of thin air, they will find new home inside Indian Subcontinent. If they play there cards right. They have considered that since the beginning. unlike other ungrateful neighbors. There so called deep sea ports will just submerge to new deepening heights.

US has bases in Indian ocean in Diego Garcia. The US navy is the most powerful force in Indian ocean and will be responsible in deeping balance of power against China in Western Pacific and Indian Ocean. In 20 years, I predict Indian would open up its ports to the US navy.

In 20 years, Indian warships could birth at Deigo Garcia. That is my prediction!

US would do well to secure the Pacific and the Atlantic. Indian Ocean will slide out of their influence.:smokin:

Are u dreaming...
AT which side u woke up today..
right or left..?

In twenty years, my prediction is that India will need US assistance to counter China. India can get a better deal with the west by siding with the west now. Otherwise, India would be begging US to base its navy all around India.

You and I both know that this will not happen. The reality is that India would either side with China/Russia bloc or western bloc. Its not strong enough to be in the middle.

India is not some weak country that needs foreign forces stationed here.

We will never allow foreign forces on our soil or territorial waters. Period.

(any gov that does that will be guaranteed to lose the next election anyway)

Maybe not now, but eventually India MUST go the middle way. Our foreign policy is clearly aimed at creating a mutipolar world, and one of those poles (unsurprisingly) will be India.

If India can make the Indian Ocean into India's Ocean, I will be content with Indian policies for the remainder of the century.

Dude, if the Indo-US relations continue the way they are progressing, very soon INS Kolkata or INS Chennai may pay a visit to Diego Garcia. :smokin:

What kind of wet dream is this? "china-russia" bloc?! Who the hell do you think youre kidding? Look if youre trying to score some brownie points with the chinese or pak nationals, i can understand.

Sometimes, its a great idea to view strategic perspective from others instead from inside a well. The US foolishly allow China and Russia to be closer to each other because of incompetencies of the Clinton administration. As of now, these two countries are closer to each other than they are individually to the US. This is the most important triangular relationship. India need to find a room in the light of this strategic situation. So its either siding with China/Russia the SCO. Or with US lead Nato. India does not have economic, political or technological muscle to be a pole by itself.
