Nomination of DG ISI is my authority: PM Imran Khan says in cabinet meeting today

Disagree. He’s a goner, he may last till the next election, but that’s about it. Even know the only thing keeping him in power is that the alternatives are missing, consensus is not reachable etc. Just because he isn’t gone yet, doesn’t mean he isn’t a goner.

The army can’t accept N league led by NS types, the opposition don’t want to seize power just yet, etc.

But just to remind you and all readers. IK’s governing coalition is made up of various other parties’ turncoats within PTI, establishment types, Jahangir Tareen group, Q league, and MQM.

One signal from the establishment, and all of the above will run for the hills, Imran would not survive a no confidence vote. It’s just at this time, nobody can reach a consensus, and nobody wants to govern with a half baked coalition, especially as economic conditions will stay bad till 2023.

And where will the alternatives come from within the next 18-months ?

To be honest, we have been hearing these rants even before the day IK had sworn in. At least now it got updated to "IK will complete his tenure and that would be it."

We'll see what happens in 2023 elections.

Okay, let’s see. By the way, usually the rats flee sinking ships first. We all know who they are in PTI ranks, they have some very worried looks on their face these days. Some of them who can’t keep their mouths shut usually, have declined to comment in front media on this affair, to my shock... anyway, let’s see.

And where will the alternatives come from within the next 18-months ?

Unfortunately, it will likely be the current opposition.

Unhindered elections will land whichever parts can command roughly 35% of the national vote. If that happens to be PTI again, PML, or PPP. Or some monstrous coalition. As long as there is no outside influence, the people must learn to differentiate between worthwhile leaders and those who they mustn’t support.

I may have no faith in the current crop of party leaders, but do I have faith in the common man.

IK is far dangerous for everyone including establishment and judiciary out of power. They would have to kill him to stop the damage he can do to these institutions if they play dirty games to get him out. His street power is more than PMLN and PPP combined and establishment is always scared of anyone with such street power with a narrative people support!

There was no way corrupt status quo supreme judiciary would have taken up Panama case without extreme public and street pressure generated by IK.

His speech today with a dig/mock at judiciary for what they are and have been doing. It is all toned down. Outside PM seat, what he would say about judiciary would make the judges hide as public will go for them.

People forget that IK did not want to form a luli langri government and was looking at reelections. It was COAS who convinced him to form the government!! Establishment could not have him go for reelection with a bigger mandate after intentionally short changing him 25 or so seats.

IK is not NS or BB who got ousted multiple times and couldn't do jack about it. This DG ISI issue is a prime example even though it was a none issue. IK is not going to be easy pill to swallow if anyone is planning any misadventure and everyone knows it.
Am I distributing envelopes of cash to rented "street power"? :D

Khalaii Makhlooq, remember? :D

His street power appeared by magic, and will disappear by the same magic, if that is what is decided.

I was at Dharna including march from Kashmir highway to D Chowk ... I must have been paid by establishment in some way to attend the many days I did. A dentist friend from lahore drove with his mrs was there too ... ISI paid us a lot of money to sweat buckets slow walking for miles behind the container.

Stop talking out of your ***! You have no clue how much support he has in Pakistan.

LOL. We shall soon see, what's the rush? :D

You are blind ... you can't see what's right in front of you.

And the military professionals in PDF don't like IK because they can't digest a strong civilian leader so they bark everytime IK enforces rules and processes that they are used to bypassing. IK is not status quo and military/judiciary want status quo - they want compliant puppets who lick their boots all the time.

Some in Establishment want some sort of negotiations with US whereas Absolutely Not is IK's decision. If he was a puppet, he would not have made such blunt statements.

He definitely has some street power and support, but generally when someone mentions “street power” I tend to think they mean that their guy can get his way outside the electoral system, outside parliament, by bringing mass protest movements.

Two issues I see with that, TuQ and IK had street power, even at their height in 2014, and with establishment support they couldn’t force out the government. Plus the only group that consistently shows genuine street power is the maulvi crowd, and God knows it’s better if they don’t take to the streets.

IK may still be electorally popular, street power is doubtful. And on the former, I’ve been looking and haven’t seen any recent GE polls since last year. Will be very interesting to see if PTI has managed to remain strong.

That's your opinion. He has done a lot for a lot in the 3 years that establishment and it's puppets of past couldn't even think of doing so even more will come out on his call in the future. Street power has increased - this is why deseating him is scary for establishment. He has seen corruption files of very powerful people. State secrets he will never reveal, like your spiritual father Nawaz threatened to expose, but corrupt judges etc and their files/assets records are all with IK.

@Verve

Tahir-ul-Qadri added much to the 'street power' that was witnessed in Islamabad.
