PM Shehbaz says IMF doesn't trust Pakistan's govt

Pakistan has gone to IMF 22 times and not once completed all the structural reforms as demanded by the IMF program. Did that mean IMF stopped lending to Pakistan?View attachment 856155

Pakistan has completed the 2018 program. If PTI government wanted to hand over the subsidy, they could have simply walked away from the IMF rather than receiving the money and then telling IMF that we are not agreeing to agreed increases in fuel taxes.
This 2 numberi led IMF to pre-condition everything including the budgetary measures.
IMF doesn't need you, you need the IMF.

.
Once the new govt came in, the numbers went waaaayyy off due to the devaluation and other measures. PTI budgeted for around 130 billion in subsidy, they gave out around 50 billion of those. PDM gave out around 180-200 billion.
Exactly. While economy and finances of the country were nose diving, imported govt was busy changing election and NAB laws in their favor to give themselves NRO 2

PTI govts subsidy on petroleum was budgeted and was only valid until passing of the next budget in June. It had zero impact on IMF agreement

IMF did not tell PTI to do anything seedhi lakeer ki tarah.

They wanted them to keep the fiscal deficit in check, PTI budgeted the finances for the next two months for that.

PTI's only "budget" was so called dividend from Non-Financial holdings of GoP.

It took Bajwa and Imran some long term effort to destroy the credibility of Pakistan.
The end result. Even FATF doesn't trust Pakistan despite completing all the progress points.
Not a single friend of Pakistan was willing to help her out without IMF.

If you call "expected dividend from Non-Financial entities" as budget. It was a daylight backstab for IMF and the scars will continue to haunt Pakistan for long time.

Pakistan was put on Fatf grey list in a meeting that was held in February 2018. Who was in govt back then? Was it Imran Khan?

I merely quoted the first sentence of the story from Dawn that was linked, that is all. I really do not like to comment any more for any offense it may cause to the uberzealots here. I am content to let reality make itself known, as it always will.

(BTW, the title of the thread has been changed in violation of PDF rules, if anyone is still interested in apply the rules fairly. Or not. :D )

The PTI's memory is very short. Let me Jog it for you. All PTI fanboys were including Hamza Abbasi were Rooting for Hafiz Saeed and then the same PTI facilitated his conviction.
This is what destroys credibility when a sitting minister vows to protect the person on FATF's demand list.

FATF and IMF had to twist Pakistan's arm enough forcing both the estab and the government to take the U-Turn. They know it that it's not a willing step.
