Independence Day: Most remain seated while national anthem played in J&K

SRINAGAR: The main Independence Day function at the Bakshi stadium here saw most of the people in the general stands remain seated when the national anthem was played soon after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti unfurled the tricolour.

However, people sitting in the VIP enclosure, including high court judges, MLAs, MLCs, bureaucrats and office bearers of political parties, stood up to pay their respect to the national anthem.

Around 3,000 people were present in the stadium, which has a capacity of over 18,000.

The empty stands at the stadium came as a shock to the Uttar Pradesh Police contingent which was taking part in the celebrations for the first time in Kashmir.

"In our state, Independence Day is celebrated like a festival," Singh told reporters.

UP Police contingent leader Deputy Superintendent of Police Sheodan Singh said it was a disappointing sight to see such a small gathering at the main venue of Independence Day celebrations

The concept of good terrorist and bad terrorist as per the Pakistani text book. As far as we are concerned they are. They are a designated terrorist group in the US, EU and in India. Go play with your good terrorist bad terrorist somewhere else.

There is enough for you to Google and search on how these cowardly womanising terrorists ask for human shields by way of stone pelting. If they were so brave they would come out and fight. They would protect the common people by asking them to not come in the way. Not seen any terrorist do that. Enough proof that these are cowardly womanising terrorists. The last tweet speaks volumes people are simply fed up with terrorism and violence. There is a ton of intelligence coming to police. The terrorist is finding hard to survive. I know people who live in Srinagar, there is a silent set of people who want no violence. For the political goal of Pakistan, the people of Kashmir has been converted to cannon fodder. There is Hurriyat making money, terrorist making money and the common is man losing money/job and education.
