What's new

No electric meter in Miranshah - totally free electricity

Anyhow, there are many good people from KPK and FATA but they have to give up romanticizing with the lawlessness of FATA , its not good for anyone. I will not say more on this

You realize that's what outsiders say about Pakistan? We're not going to get anywhere unless we begin to accept our responsibility and accept our people as our own.

hahah you are calling pakistans , napkis , daal khor and what not on pashtunforums and you call others 'racist' for just pointing out the obvious wrt to FATA

Pushtoonforums?? Man, I am a Punjabi :p hahaha

No one is saying there is no lawlessness in FATA.. but you are way too generalizing.. Karachi is more lawless, MQM is even more "gangster" but this doesn't mean you can say all Urdu speaking people are bhatta khors. But you say All of FATA is terrorist etc..

grow up

Thanks for sharing.

I seriously doubt that Jinnah promised free dole outs to Tribals.

Here it is for you to read.

Pakistan wants to help you and make you, as far as it lies in our power, self-reliant and self-sufficient and help in your educational, social and economic uplift, and not be left as you are dependent on annual doles, as has been the practice hitherto which meant that at the end of the year you were no better off than beggars asking for allowances, if possible a little more. We want to put you on your legs as self-respecting citizens who have the opportunities of fully developing and producing what is best in you and your land.

Jinnah was telling them not to be beggars (his words not mine).

And you ignore all that? Why?

Well, before these operations, how many beggars did yu see were from tribal areas?? None that I can remember!

Yes, Jinnah made this speech, and had a hard time convincing tribals to join Pakistan.. but in the end, they did a pretty good bargain! An angle can be made from which ppl will say you are calling Quaid-e-Azam a HYPOCRITE for saying all these things than giving free stuff!!! But this is politics! He did this for the greater good. 48/65 wars were won in part because of the tribals! And so was Afghan War of 80s.
Our constition gives them free electricity (of which they now only get 3/4 hours per day). We (govt) is trying to change things though!

I did not say that all people from FATA are terrorists , I said they need to stop romanticizing with violence and lawlessness ... when you live by the gun you die by the gun .. thats is a very uncomfortable truth about that areas

you implied that they're terrorists

Have you seen the images coming out of NWA ? I mean are we THAT blind

there are some weapons on display that at first glance one could not even identify , the shed where they packed spent shells with explosives to rig vehicles looks more like an ordnance factory rather than a place where peaceful law abiding citizens live.

Tribals were part of Pakistan bhai. you think they were going to leave FATA and move somewhere else. Or carry FATA on their heads and rush to Saudi Arabia? What kind of talk is that?

back in 48, the problem Jinnah faced was simply. He had inherited from British, the uprising in the area that was going on since early 40s.

And Jinnah could not afford to continue the military operations.

it was pure and simply military strategy and Jinnah as a good leader, used his charms to convince Tribals to become civilized and thus tribals needed to make FATA part of the rest of the country by getting education.

Jinnah clearly said, "don't be beggars" awaiting dole outs from the federal government.

Please learn the history of FATA otherwise you will not understand Jinnah's speech.

Thank you.

Yet he doled out free gas/electricity... ?

Do a bit more research on it sir. Just because you cant believe it doesnt mean it didnt happen.

eating 'muft' electricity , then saying we want more development and on top of that hording arms , bombs , bullets to wage war against the state ?!

if ever there was such an agreement about eating 'muft' electricity it now stands null and void

Was there also an agreement on smuggling ? Suicide Bombing ?

free to smuggle goods
no taxes
no bills for gas and electricity
no tariffs for moving goods across borders
suicide bomb factory

that is FATA in nutshell

FATA in a nutshell. Yet you say you didn't imply it?

TTP is in reality an Afghan militia. They are the problem.

We can deal with our tribals, just need to get them up to speed, won't take long. Give it 20 years and they will have tech start ups and making a real contribution and difference to the country.

These Afghans are hopeless, I want the refugees, the migrants all shipped back to Afghanistan. In future visa restrictions apply and are granted to high earners.

I have meray bhai.

Jinnah never promised free electricity.

He viewed the world from his POV.

He was a self made man, and never accepted any thing for free.

He expected the same from his kids and his countrymen.

Please do not attribute wrong things to that great man. Sometime I wonder if we really deserved a leader like Jinnah (when I see such low class character of our nation).

Really wonder.

I've seen more dangerous weapons in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta. Rocket launchers were a daily occurrence in Liyari/Karachi.. It was cheaper to get a grenade than a gun in liyari..

Media (most of it western controlled) will never want to portray a good picture of Pakistan, hence this is what we mostly see.. (and will continue to see from what I can gather)

You are a racist man!

Google about Jinnah and the agreement! e.g. one link: Muhammad Ali Jinnah -Address to the Tribal Jirga at Government House | United4justice's Weblog

and

Musharraf shattered Jinnah commitments for FATA | Pakistan

Anyways, Why single out only FATA? 8 lakh people of NWA were smugglers? suicide bombers??
I am sure there are more taliban /terrorists/killers in Karachi than in NWA (in numbers, not in % terms).. More bhatta khors, more smugglers.. MORE ELECTRICITY THIEVES.. so Why not bomb the whole of Karachi??

And they are NOT stealing gas/electricity. The Father of the NATION made a committment to them FOR THEIR SERVICES. And that too they were getting like 3/4 hours a day and you are mad!!

U are a fauji historian (??) you should know better :)

I partially agree with you but DID Tribals fullfill their "peaceful" role promises and allegiance to Jinnah A BIG NO, they sheltered terrorists/criminals/gangs groomed them made millions of them dollars out of them who should we blame for the uzbek terrorists and their families stationed in S/N Waziristan or did they just pop up like a poppy plant in the middle of WAZ...any such treaty should/must be discarded and they be billed.

F*** the western media! I dont give a shit about western media
but I cannot ignore the evidence that is accumulating right in front for us for the past 13 years!

This special status of FATA , Jinnah promised this or that , unpaid defenders of western borders , all this blah blah has gotten us into this mess in the first place.

Hmm, I've not found (yet) a document that "specifically says free electricity/gas" but here is something close;

Pakistan came into being on August 14, 1947 as a result of the partition of British India,
comprising the provinces of East Bengal, Punjab, Sind, North West Frontier Province and State of
Qalat (modern day Baluchistan). With autonomous tribes (modern day FATA) Pakistan had to reach
an agreement. It is widely believed that Jinnah, the Governor General of Pakistan, gave a solemn
pledge to the tribes not to interfere in the internal affairs of the tribes in exchange for joining Pakistan.
Agreement with all tribes from November 15-22, 1947, was signed by the political secretary A. S. B.
Shah on behalf of Jinnah, the Governor General of Pakistan. Modus apparendiof agreements had
been that various political agents held meetings with tribal individuals, at times gatherings, and
signed documents promising allegiance to and cooperation with Pakistan in return for continued
allowances and benefits.

As per my understanding, (from what Ive heard from locals), these benefits included free power.. (which was given by the british as well... so Jinnah just didnt take it away..)

F*** the western media! I dont give a shit about western media

I disagree. War on Terror is the major culprit here..
