Newspaper claims 'Pakistan must learn democracy from India'

RazPak, since I was going off topic, I deleted my post and don't want to divert the discussion..

I have serious question - Why don't Islamic states by default opt for Sharia? I mean if you define your self to be Islamic state and not follow what quran prescribes then can you still be called an Islamic state??
I wonder how much socialist and secular india is as it advertises itself everywhere. Results on ground are exactly opposite.

It wasn't off-topic at all.

Pakistan has a ways to go before we develop a system with the right balance. India faces different problems and Pakistan faces it's own.

You guys market yourselves as the Super Secular Democracy.

I can say pragmatically that Pakistan will never be able to go that route. We are still evolving in terms of politics and as young of nation as we are, will have to find our own way.

I think a weak democracy is 100 times better than an army ruled regime.tell me,Pak Army generals ruled Pakistan half of its life since creation.what significant improvement they did except waging war against India to hide its failure??You guys should elect a stable govt and hope Army and ISI doesn't put pressure to implement short sighted policies that is Pakistan's bane or overthrow that govt..a stable govt that will keep its army under civilian command.

The days of army rule are over, however the Army has served the perfect check on balance for political parties that were against the founding principles of our nation.

As a Indian I think our democracy is utter failure so we can't be a democratic model for somebody.

I think for pakistan presidential model of democracy is best suited .imran khan would have been next president in that case ..

Everyone wants to earn his/her rotis on the spilled blood of tribal and maoists by providing their parasitic capitalist consultancy.
But the same consultants do hail democracy in the durbar of one present day royal political dynasties or the other. But hey afterall they are consultant only fleecing from both warring parties is their nature.Just like that in two warring cats and the monkey story of panchtantra.

Hand on heart... and no lies please... Does A in AJTR stand for Arundhati ???

Nothing weak can survive in this world.Key to sustain anything is to keep one strong otherwise you'll be trampled by the others.India did had weak democracy during first 15 years of its freedom where it only concentrated on the democracy and neglected the military and was rightly slapped to make it wake up from slumber.seems like india neeeds another slap to wake it up again.

Pakistan must learn democracy from India'

Pakistan must n't learn anything from India since....

The india and pakistan belong to two different religious philosophies, social customs, litterateurs. They neither intermarry nor interdine together and, indeed, they belong to two different civilizations which are based mainly on conflicting ideas and conceptions. Their aspect on life and of life are different. It is quite clear that indians and pakistanis derive their inspiration from different sources of history. They have different epics, different heroes, and different episodes. Very often the hero of one is a foe of the other and, likewise, their victories and defeats overlap.
....." Manas, the great leader .

Democracy without educated people is worst than military rule.we have most corrupt elite sitting in parliament.
so pakistan at least this time dont have to learn anything from india

You mean kind of democracy that blame a spy agency for its every freaking failure? The only thing that can be learnt from the Indian democracy is the continuity , apart from that things are fairly common. I understand democracy in Pakistan is still in its infancy and to be able to flourish it we need to follow model democracies which are immaculate, for instance Turkey (Muslim country).

The only thing Pakistan and India share or suffer from in common is dynastic political parties/leaders. I'm still unsure how to eradicate this problem.

Just because a family member was in government does not automatically disqualify one from election, however this right is being abused continuously.

America is majority educated even prospective Presidential candidate is forced to declare his religion openly like in Obama's case.
