What's new

New trailer of Dracula Untold (Dracula vs Fatih the Conqurer)

He was raised by the ottomans .. Later he became their worst enemy .. N was supported by the Christian empires... He wasn't just some random janissary.

He was a royal hostage to Istanbul for much of his childhood (like his brother), trained and raised like the son of any high ranking Turk noble. He probably knew Mehmed from childhood.

Unlike his brother Radu he never embraced the Turkish culture and when he ascended to the Wallachian throne became the archenemy of the Ottoman empire, unsupported by other Christian countries . (albeit he was less successful than his contemporary, Stephen). He was a very, very cruel man, but it's debatable if he was the monster portrayed by the German and Hungarian chronicles (Russian and Wallachian chronicles portray him in a much better light)

The irony is that Sthephen was a much more succesfull ruler than Vlad(wich was his contemporary-Sthephen in Moldova,Vlad in Wallachia) with many more battles won, but outside Romania he's much less known .

No vampires :D

Not that much really. He was supported with promises just like Stephen the Great. The real money went to the Hungarian and Polish kings who didn't do nothing. The Catholics weren't into helping the Orthodox to much.

Who else one could expect :D
Turks will allways be the evil for Hollywood if its Europeans vs. Turks. :D

Do you remember Midnight Express movie? That guy smuggled drugs and got arrested but still Turks are the evil people, as if you dont get arrested in US for smuggling drugs. :disagree:

Now, now xenon, I've seen some clips from "Conquest", and the Europeans aren't depicted very brightly either :D
What are you expecting after decades of beeing the evil one in Hollywood? :rolleyes1:
Besides i also watched the movie and i didnt have the feeling as if Europeans was portrayed bad there, well maybe Konstantin but still no comparison to Midnight Express. :)

Lets see what the real ''victim'' in Midnight express says about the movie.

During the 1999 Cannes Film Festival, Alinur Velidedeoğlu, a Turkish advertiser, met Billy Hayes by chance and interviewed him on the film Midnight Express. Hayes expressed his disappointment with parts of the film adaptation, especially its portrayal of all Turks as bad, and his regret that Turkey's image was negatively affected by the film. Hayes also displayed affection for Turkey and Istanbul. Although the Interpol warrant for him had by then been set aside, he explained that while he wanted to return, he hesitated to do so out of concern that many Turks might blame him for the negative publicity the movie had generated.

The video was made available on YouTube.[7][8] Hayes did finally return to Turkey on June 14, 2007, to attend the 2nd Istanbul Conference on Democracy and Global Security, organized by the Turkish National Police (TNP) and the Turkish Institute for Police Studies (TIPS), to amend the negative implications of his book. He held a press conference on June 15 and made an apology to the Turkish people.

Mate there was a clear bias in that movie....

- Like Emperor constantine shouting "We will drown barbaric Turks in their own blood"

- Fatih welcomed like a liberator when he took the city... but everyone knows that if the city puts up a fight, there will be 3 days of looting after it's conquest.

Well, you don't expect him to have a speech to his troops how they will throw flowers to the Turks and have them over for dinner right?

Constantine wasn't portrayed bad in any way.
İn the end he was portrayed as the Emperor that choose to fall in battle towards the end along with it's city, even when he had the chance to escape.

The other thing you mention about lootings is more of a historical error of the moviemakers, rather than portraying the Byzantines as bad.

.
Oh no...

That's just a theory,not prooven.

He say (Dracul), "In my veins flow the blood of Atilla." -Bram Stroker's Dracula
I know many Hungarian who said this of theirselves. They are Hun blooded.

Now we're quoting crappy novels as historical truth ? Vlad Tepes (the Impaler ) was Wallachian (Romanian).
