LKF601E Air Cooling Airborne AESA radar for JF-17 Thunder/ FC-1 has been unearthed !

Speculated Range of about 170-180 km, radar can track, lock and target its opponent even in worst weather conditions.

This Radar is able to track and target 15, and simultaneously engage 4 opponent aircrafts with the Radar Guided Missiles. As per the specifications, LKF601E is far superior when compared to American AN/APG68-V9 Radar placed on the Legendary F-16 Fighter Aircraft.

LKF601E can be fitted with ease(on the Aircraft) even on an Airbase, without going to the retrofiring and overhauling factory due to it simpler yet ultra modern Engineering.

This Radar can easily be fitted on the existing as well as old Block of JF-17 i.e both on JF-17 Block 1 and JF-17 Block 2 without any Structural change or Radar Nose modification.

Its most likely that Pakistan Airforce would be Upgrading its entire existing fleet of JF-17 Thunder with LKF601E Air Cooling Airborne AESA radar.

Maybe PAF should just install these on the Block-III JFTs, that'll save them alot of airframe design modifications as we have seen in the JF-17B

New Airborne AESA Radars from China

LKF601E, an airborne FCS AESA radar from the Chinese Aviation Industry Cooperation (AVIC) was unveiled at the AirshowChina event. The new radar is designed for new and upgraded platforms such as the JF-17 and FTC-2000G ‘export fighters’.

uses a 3GHz bandwidth at the X-band, provides detection of fighter-sized targets at 170 km, tracks up to 15 targets simultaneously and engages four with air/air missiles. The radar also supports air/ground modes, with one-meter SAR resolution and terrain mapping at 300 km. Searching targets at sea, the radar can detect large targets from 200 km.

Another airborne AESA radar displayed at AirshowChina depicts side panels that extend radar coverage to the sides and rear. The main array is positioned in a slanted plane, with supporting side planes on each side. Other arrays complete the radar overage all around the plane.

blk 3 for sure is gonna use the klj 7A bcz nose cone in jf17-B is big in size and klj7A shown in zhuhai has sideways tracker also so it will be must great advantage to use klj-7A in blk 3

Whats advantage with side tracking? this feature not available in LKF601E Air Cooling Airborne AESA radar?

its advantage would be that it can side track also like on its right and left side.
See the encircled part its present on both sides and these track objects form sideways

Imagine a Fleet of 200 JF-17 of various blocks all armed with AESA , along with 80 F-16's along with 50 Mirage III/V and F-7PG . I still hope we buy a off the shelf Fighter in small numbers ( 18-24 ) .

Which fighter can we buy off the shelf right now? The Americans wouldn't sell us any neither would Russia because that would really piss off the Indians and do we really need J-10s? JFT Block-III will be pretty similar to the J-10. Rafale isn't an option either due to the high procurement and flying costs

EFT , SU35 , or Chinese J-Series Flankers .. I wont say US is not ready to sell its just they are not in mood to pay through US aid, if you want to buy US weapons Pay for it .

I don't think PAF would buy twin-engine fighters like EFT or Su-35, their running costs are just too high to maintain a decent sized fleet

they have to adjust their pockets if they need to maintain a minimum deterrence against their enemy .

They HAVE adjusted their wallets to maintain a minimum deterrence, that is why the JF17 Block III is so delayed as they are investing everything in it to make sure it is relevant until Azm turns up !!!!!!

Dude, if we wanted to buy we have plenty of options.
Russians are no longer in bed with india, and are open to sell whatever any one is willing to buy.
The only thing is, we want to spend the money on developing a 5th gen fighter instead of wasting it on buying something that is already going to be outdated in a decade.

And no Block III JF 17 would still not be the same as J-10 because J-10 is a whole different type of fighter for a whole different kind of role and it excels at what it does.

This is a very potent force. PAF won't buy any off the shelf fighter. Project AZM would be the next big induction.
