What's new

New JF-17 Squadron to be raised

Why's there a mention of Peshawar in the image you posted in #84?

How I understood:
Current (F7) Tigers squadron of Samungli is being relocated to Peshawar, while new (jF17) squadron is going to be raised at Samungli.

. .
So 20 moved to mm Alam and now 17 to pesh ??

There was no ceremony for no 20 was it?, it was few years ago

. .
Moving out of Samungli, No-17 Squadron streamlines into it's new home in Peshawar.
Credit as titled.

its RD93 is not a base model from 70's and if it was outdated or so Pakistan Air force would have opt for other options.
Pakistan didn't have any other option.
The other route would be American or European, both expensive and sanction prone

.
When was this move made ?

There were no pg in pesh till last year so this must be after New Years ??
The sqn had already moved to Peshawar(probably december)...only the ceremony and proper announcement was made now.

Hi,

Well---it is---. It is an older design---but it does not mean it is an obsolete design---.

A machine is as good as the job it needs to do---and under the given circumstances---RD93 has done its job---.

It has been upgraded for a better performance and both the aircraft and the power plant compliment each other.

A european power plant does not bring much to the table worthwhile---.

A better option would be to split the difference in cost between the RD93 & the western engine---and spend that money on a potent EW package.

There was a need to have a rapid BVR and high tech response at the western border and it made sense to exchange squadrons out at Samungli when the unofficial deployment was already carried out.

The more interesting bit is that the F-16s are now fully focused on eastern AD .

Makes sense as well for the 16s to be employed on thd Eastern front. No sense for it to face its own kith and kin on the Western side. Plus traditionally our main enemy is to the East. And by the way there goes Lungi's dream of F16s turning into toys as the US sides up with India

Well the US may “side” with India but there is divided opinions inside the US state as well. We have our sympathizers in there too who slip us little whispers now and then as well. They want India rising to compete with China but just enough to where they aren’t upsetting the balance they want against other countries.

The thing I wanted to highlight was that the US would never compromise its own Weapons systems against any other nation. If we lost out to the Russians or for that matter even the French without giving a good account of ourselves, we could damage the US arms industry's reputation and they would never compromise on that.

Well, that’s not entirely true with how the Iraqis got their M-1s butt kicked by ISIS.

Plenty of other bad accounts of US equipment as well, but the issue lies in the world order that the US deep state wants to maintain to an extent regardless of “burn everything” nincumpoops like the orange buffoon at the head.

I will agree re the IS internal and external situation. Re: the Iraq situation I think that was a setup. There was motive behond it to stir up trouble in Syria and to be fair that is where most of the arms went. Had the Asad Regime not had the support of the Russians they may well have fallen. However there is more going on in the middle east and it is all part of the great game of the ascendency if the greater state of Israel.
