Work on new airport enters 2nd phase

ISLAMABAD: The construction work on new Islamabad airport project has entered the second phase. The new airport project is scheduled to be completed by end of 2010 and it would offer international standard facilities to 6.5 million passengers besides handling of 100,000 metric tonnes of cargo annually.

According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) sources, the second phase of the project includes construction of runway, taxiway, emergency runway, apron, and airside infrastructure. app

What was the 1st phase and what's the second one?

Projects according to Project Management Instittute go through 5 stages.

1. Project Initiation
2. Project Planning
3. Project Execution
4. Project Monitoring and Controlling
5. Project Closing

Since they say they are going to make runways in this phase I'm thinking they are heading in to execution and controlling phases (they go hand in hand).

Benazir Bhutto is a pretty name at least - could have been Ganja Airport, and from a publicity POV its not bad considering how many people know of her in the West, and in a favorable light.

My personal preference would still be Gandhara IA - a tribute to our history and past civilization.
