New Delhi Seeks Heavy Machine Guns For F-INSAS

ok just yash - First of all, many best wishes on your project and Iam sure with people like you the nation's future is bright...:)

ok Just a doubt -

For this look and Shoot system - Do you need a bullet which will have a seeker or it will be directed to the target by laser?....or do you have any other basis?

Thanks Dash :)

let me describe LOOK AND SHOOT system bit properly.

it's some thing like following (Pic form wiki.), but much more ergonomic.

Integrated_Helmet_Display_Sight_System.jpg

in this system, computer have all the belistic data of gun used by person ( Insas, Ak-47, 9mm , .50 cal or even air burst weapon)

Now it will calculate the various thing like surrounding temp.(Trough temp. sensors), wind speed, direction(Through sens. of course), position on earth, height of the place( easy done with gps, and required for accurate shooting)

now system measure the distance of target.(there are two main method for that and user will use the method best suitable for him. one is laser rang finding and it's best suited for long range aim. and 2nd is elector acoustics wildly used in auto focus camera)

all this process just took small fraction of sec. then after simple mathematical calculation required, so Our Ballistic computer will continuously calculating the Best and optimum weapon potion to shoot, where our solider is looking ....:)

Just image the possibility

1) if we use 5.56 or 7.62mm round then we are able to hit the moving of stationary target at 1 KM by just looking it in a sec!

2) if we use .50 cal then we are able to hit moving or stationary target at rang of 2.5 KM!!!!!!

3) With the use of Air burst ammunition our enemy will have no place to hide !!!!!!

our soldier just have to look at the target and Pull the Tiger, Computer will automatically find the optimum angle to shoot at target depending upon the weapon use. any soldier able to use any kind of weapon without any training !!!!!!!!!!!

And ya for diff type to weapon we just have to enter the name of weapon in PDA and computer will automatically find out all the ballistic data of that weapon from data base.In case if they are using new type of weapon then person will ask for the ballistic data online from his PDA , Head office will send it online as a software update and Soldier will receive that update in the war zone and start shooting!!!!!!

I am really excited about this. and more importantly WE HAVE FINISHED THE DESIGN OF LOOK AND SHOOT SYSTEM:toast_sign::toast_sign:

No, i don't.

I want to took opinion of Army men, that which kind of technology they want for there mission. so i ask MR. Indian army (I don't know his name but he is ret. army man)

Since our engg. college time we use to design some thing diff. for army just for a fun like small drone(Which was our final project for last year ;)) , camera with small display which can be fitted on gun so soldier can fire without taking his head out of safety.. and so on..

in last year of college i came up with this idea and i told them to my friends, they like it and so since last three year we are working on it...

All the best. Actually this kind of thinking is very very rare in India, where we don't have DARPA like org that take general people's ideas or innovations and then sponsors or gives them high tech R&D facilities.

Can you put a simple pic of one of your system, please?

Thanks yaar.

For Pic just wait few months we will put entire project, as soon any big firm support us ok. till then we have decided not to materialize any thing. :)

All the best again Yash. hope to see a prototype soon......:)

Great going buddy. I wish you best of luck for ur innovative ideas :yahoo:

For this above mentioned system of yours, why do we gonna need a human if the computer calculates everything?:azn:

Its like future robot combat system... Not an F INSAS...:flame:

INdian Infantry, special forces to get new-generation carbines and rifles

NEW DELHI: In the dazzle of strategic missiles, fighter jets, nuclear submarines and main-battle tanks, basic infantry gear often gets short shrift.
No longer. The 1.13-million strong Army is now on course to ink three deals for 3,90,000 new-generation carbines and assault rifles.

Defence ministry sources said the aim was to seal the deals, worth around Rs 7,000 crore, `as soon as possible' to bolster the `combat potential' of infantry soldiers and special forces.

Interestingly enough, the first phase of Army's high-tech F-INSAS (future infantry soldier as a system) project in the pipeline also focuses on enhancing the `lethality and survivability' of foot-soldiers.
F-INSAS, in fact, wants to transform soldiers into self-contained, fullynetworked, mobile killing machines, with a high degree of `situational awareness' and capable of operating in all-terrain and all-weather conditions.

Under it, infantry soldiers are to be progressively equipped with light-weight integrated ballistic helmets with `heads-up display' and miniaturised communication systems; portable visual, chemical and biological sensors; hand-held computer displays, GPS and ; and of course lethal firepower with laser-guided modular weapon systems.

The biggest of the three deals to be inked is the project to buy 43,318 `close-quarter battle' (CQB) carbines off-the-shelf from abroad for around Rs 4,400 crore, which is to be followed by the indigenous manufacture of another 1,16,764 similar guns under transfer of technology.

"The global tender for CQB carbines was issued in early-2008. The deal should be inked within the 2009-10 fiscal," said a source.

Soldiers will find the compact and modular carbines, equipped with night-vision devices, laser designators and detachable under-barrel grenade launchers, much easier to operate than full-length rifles.

Under the second Rs 2,183 crore project, the Ordnance Factory Board is to manufacture 2,18,320 advanced carbines based on the new 5.56-mm model developed indigenously.

The third deal, in turn, is the procurement of 10,730 light-weight assault rifles for Rs 385 crore. Incidentally, the 10 existing battalions of Parachute Regiment, each with around 850 soldiers, have now more or less been reorganised into seven Para-SF (Special Forces) and three Para-SF (airborne) units.

But equipping these special forces, tasked with conducting clandestine and `irregular' warfare deep behind enemy lines, with specialised equipment has taken place in quite a slipshod manner till now.

Army, however, says the 40 specialised items earmarked for special forces are now being fast-tracked. These include weaponry like TAR-21 Tavor assault rifles and M4A1 carbines, all-terrain multi-utility vehicles and GPS navigation systems, modular acquisition devices and laser range-finders, high-frequency communication sets and combat free-fall parachutes, among other equipment, from countries like the US, Israel, France and Sweden.

hope this gets materialised

Its like future robot combat system... Not an F INSAS...:flame:

Do you want, robot to decide whom to Kill :undecided: just one small bug in software and robot will start shooting every one around it!!!!!

How robot can differentiate between enemy solider and our own solider or people ?

mentioned system will calculate various parameter and wait for person's decision.

so to pull the tiger, human is still best option . Plus we have army of One Million Strong and vary skilled person, why don't we utilize their experience and knowledge with super high tech system?

Mate... I was just trying to get into the groove and tried to replace man with robots... But i din state that the robot should be fully autonomous... Not like that terminator kinda stuff...

I was just trying to bring here the concept of the UAVs... Like the one who is going to pull the trigger sitting somewr safe and the robot or Machines if you would like, doing the job of sighting and targetting...

That would be intersting... Just my thot....:azn:

Nice thought my friend.

i also do believe that by sending robots in war zone, we can reduce human casualty in our side, but technology is not reach up to that level that it can handle 1000 to 2000 UAV type robot warrior at a time, forget about handling 20000 to 30000 or beyond at same time....

see... Just few wrong handled UAV can do how much damage in own side in Pakistan..(USA Drone attacks).

I just saw Indra 2010 videos in one of the forum and it was pretty embarrassing. I mean for communication we still use that WWII thing that soldier carries on his back, even bullet proof jacket where not compared to the others.
I heard there would be 2 phases of induction. In my opinion in the first phase they need to work on communication because in the anti-terrorist operations communication with other members of the team and to the headquarters is important. Secondly they should also work on proper bullet-proof jackets and clothing. Thirdly night vision goggles are also important. They are talking about different types of sensors and guns and computers and gps etc. etc. but the aim of these programs should be to reduce loss of life in armed forces. Army can still work with AK47, 56 , INSAS or whatever they have but they have to solve other problems also.
And about deployment of FINSAS project, I think before equipping our whole army, we should go for para-military forces who are fighting the naxalites and terrorist. There is no need to arm reserved forces right now, we should concentrate on the one who are fighting.
Also govt. should do something for our BSF also. Those people work very hard and gets nothing.

Look at this rifle I can see... four calibers!!!!

Buddy, thats Israeli cornershot

There is just 1 barrel, rest of em are cameras, lasers and flashlights !!

I think NSG recently acquired them..
