Prime minister issues letter to bereaved families whose loved ones' murderers are about to be released from Israeli jail as part of Shalit deal. 'As a bereaved brother, I understand your pain,' he writes..

A day before the implementation of the prisoner exchange deal securing kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit's release, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a letter to bereaved parents whose loved ones' murderers are about to be freed from Israeli prisons.


"I write to you with a heavy heart," Netanyahu began the letter. "I belong to the bereaved family of terror victims. My brother was killed in the operation for the release of hostages in Entebbe. I know that you are experiencing negative feelings, that the wound of bereavement has been reopened these days and that you can't stop thinking about it.


"In my many deliberations throughout the negotiations, you were always on my mind," he added. "The decision to release Gilad Shalit was one of the most difficult ones I have ever made. It's difficult for me for the same reason it's difficult for you, dear family members."


"My decision to bring Gilad home was affected by the commitment of an Israeli prime minister to return a soldier sent on the State's behalf to defend its citizens. When I went to battle on behalf of the State of Israel, I always knew that the State of Israel does not abandon its soldiers and citizens.

"My strong desire to return a captive soldier home was faced by the need to reduce the heavy price the State of Israel was required to pay upon Gilad Shalit's abduction more than five years ago.


"I know that this price is especially heavy for you," Netanyahu wrote to the bereaved families. "I understand the difficulty to perceive that the vile people who carried out the cruel crime against your loved ones will not pay the full price they deserve.


"In these moments I hope you find comfort in the fact that I and all the people of Israel embrace you and share in your pain," he concluded.

Epic, absolutely epic! I don't know what to feel- I'm very pleased to know brave Gilad Shalit is finally about to be realised but it has come at an extraordinarily high price- the realise of SO many ruthless, murdering SCUM who no doubt will only come back to haunt the Israelis.


Just another thing I admire about the Israelis- they feel for every single man and woman in their country and are willing tondo almost anything to protect them.



May Gilad have a warm return to his motherland. And may Israel continue their struggle and put as many of these animals back behind bars before too long.

The Arab world, covers much of West Asia and North Africa, spanning the 21 different countries of the Arab League.

Such an identity (especially the Arab one) is not necessarily based on genetics alone, but a combination of culture, genetics and language.

You might as well say Han Chinese are only one small settlement along the Yellow River. Yes, that's what we were originally... but then we spread and assimilated, and now we are the biggest ethnic group on the planet.

Little history tidbit, most people who claim to be Arab are not from actual Arabic tribe. Yep, there was a tribe just like Jewish tribe.

Arab is not a race, that is why we come in diff. colors, looks, and shapes... In our region, peopel who speak Arabic are called Arabs.

Do you think the decision to swap 1 for 1000 serves the "greater good" for Israel?

1000 prisoners could cause a lot more damage than 1 soldier. However, saving the soldier... thereby keeping up morale, and holding onto principles, is worth a lot as well.

Your country leaders since 1948 are considered heroes by most of your people, and most to all of them are punch of criminals and terrorists who committed more crimes, and war crimes than those Palestinians, why are you complaining now ? Maybe most of the Western world sees those guys as terrorsts now, but your country men and women will be considered the worst criminals and terrorists of all time with its all set and done.
